2019 Offseason Thread

Only works if someone accidentally makes a post public when they are working on a draft.

I don't think that's true given the design of the NYCFC site. They don't have a blog page, where you can find every published article as they are published in order. Unless I'm wrong and the front page works that way, but I doubt it. I don't think stories appear on the home page unless someone decides to put them there. So if I'm right, they can publish a story but have it be effectively invisible until they link it up on the home page or elsewhere. Anyone with the link can see it, but it's very unlikely anybody else finds it.

Or I'm wrong and everything they publish shows up on the home page via an automatic feed.

I know we all have a lot of legitimate complaints. They all seem to boil down to a lack of transparency from this Club
What, it’s not normal to breeze past League mandated milestones and not disseminate PR describing the actions? That’s the MO in every kingdom dictatorship so it’s business as usual.

It's so frustrating. I don't ask for much, but a big one is to treat the fans like adults. Respect your fanbase enough to be transparent.

I've thought a lot about this as you can see. There are guys like Stan Collymore that use their bully pulpit to go to war with clubs over their lack of transparency.

I do think this is a little bit different than what Collymore does with Aston Villa. That's a club with 130 years of history. It's a neighborhood club. The people that support the club live in Birmingham and it's generational.

Ours is a little different in that this club is 5 years old and none of us helped build it.

That being said, we are paying customers and we get shit on all the time. I don't need anything special. But if you're not at least as transparent as Sporting KC, then you've got a massive PR problem. Then throw in Lampard, the Stadium, Proud Boys, etc.

It's hard to trust anything they do because of how secretive they are. They make it so hard to take any team release at face value because they so clearly have not a clue how to deal with an American audience. They act like teams in the Premier League act, even when that is not how teams in America act.

I just posted about this exact same thing in the roster thread but....is this honestly that big a deal?

Like a handful of other clubs, they haven't gone public with their roster moves yet. There is zero operational consequence for that, and I honestly can't think of how it affects me any different if they announce it tomorrow, Thursday or next week. As far as lack of transparency goes, I can think of a lot more egregious problems than this. We're not talking about behind-closed-doors games and players being bundled into unmarked cars yet.
