NYCFC will be entering its postgrad year (5th year) in the 2019 MLS season. Here is everything you can look forward to until the first kickoff of the 2019 season using my best estimation of dates...

Week of November 26 - Players Out - Roster options were announced on the Monday after Thanksgiving on both 2016 and 2017 (because clubs that don't qualify for the Conference Finals have to send their rosters to MLS on November 26). Players retiring will happen beforehand (see Lampard, Iraola, Ballouchy, and Pirlo). This is the date where the club will likely exercise or not exercise its options on players contracts or when contracts/loans come to an end. The biggest question is does David Villa re-sign, and if so, at what price tag?
--> NYCFC and David Villa announce the departure from the club on November 28

December 8 - MLS Cup - No CONCACAF Champions League implications for NYCFC. Watch if you care. (FOX/Unimas, 8 PM)
--> Atlanta United win their first MLS Cup

December 11 - MLS Expansion Draft - FC Cincinnati will select five players. Players available for selection will be announced on December 10. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...elect-five-players-mls-expansion-draft-dec-11
--> FC Cincinnati selected no NYCFC players

Early December - Players In - Sean Okoli was the first new signing of the 2017 season when he signed on December 5, 2016. The latest was February 23rd when Ben Sweat signed being a preseason trialist.
--> Tony Rocha acquired via trade with Orlando City on December 12

Before 2019 - Stadium Announcement? - We will finally have a plan for a home before the New Year?
--> Nope

Week of January 7 - MLS Schedule Release - Full 2019 MLS Schedule expected to be released during the latter part of the week but before the MLS SuperDraft. Home openers to be announced earlier.
--> Schedule was unveiled on January 7th at 4 PM.

January 11 - MLS SuperDraft - NYCFC will have the natural 19th, 43nd, 67th, and 75th picks (from Orlando) this year. The SuperDraft has been held in conjunction with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America convention to be held in Chicago this year. In 2016 and 2017, we traded up for higher selections.

January 26 - Preseason Beings - Locations TBD, Opponents TBD. Previously we've trained in Manchester, South Carolina, Florida, Arizona, California as well as travelled to Ecuador and Mexico for a friendly.
--> February 22 at Nashville SC

Early February - New Primary Kit - The current City blue kit has come to its end. A new primary kit will be unveiled for the 2019 and 2020 season. Leaks may come sooner as in previous years.
--> In late November leaks have already surfaced

Late February - City Membership Packages - What "free" stuff this year?

Before 2019 Season - Stadium Announcement? - Could it happen at this point?

Saturday, March 2 - Opening Weekend at Orlando - 2019 Season Kicks Off. Let the campaign for the MLS Cup begin again...

Why do they wait until February to announce the new kit??? Would be a perfect Christmas present for my kid this year. Makes no sense.

They probably have their factories lined up to produce stuff with broader appeal in the lead up to the holidays :/
And probably figure that there is naturally going to be excitement about a new kit, that there is no need to overlap it with holiday sales. Let more of the t-shirts and hoodies sell for Christmas and still sell a lot of the new jersey when it releases a few months later.

I'm looking for a home kit with slightly darker blue (hahaha will never happen until CFG parts with us), and add some more dang orange. Especially with the gray/blue away kit, we need some nice orange in there.

CFG needs to spend some fucking money.

And I'm going to keep saying LOL about any stadium announcement until it actually happens.

i know posts got moved to the other thread. but if thats the case whats the point of this thread in general. everything that got mentioned already has a more specific thread it can be in

That is true. We have a 2019 Jersey Thread, a 2019 Roster Thread, we'll have match threads about the preseason threads, and a 2019 Schedule Thread. I think the calendar at the beginning is helpful for everyone to keep track of everything during the offseason.

Should rename it 2019 off-season calendar ;)
