TL;DR: Skeptical of the Carlitos rumors based on precedent.

*Tagged as a report, clearly references NYCFC in headline, from today until I got tired of looking.
**Labeled a rumor, not a report. There's not a rumor tag, so these are harder to search. I found one for Ofori's signing and added it to the list.

They also reported Pirlo rumors before he signed, but I didn't got back far enough. It seems like they're pretty good with language - if they say someone signed, they signed; if they say someone is interested/targeted/bidding, be more skeptical

Pretty much official then:

6/21/2019 Scottish winger Gary Mackay-Steven set to join NYCFC.

I just don't understand the move unless A, we know Medina is gone; B, we are expecting to lose one of our important wingers in the offseason. A is obviously something the majority of us, if not all, are praying for. Could we move one of our wings for defensive depth? Who does GMS shift down in the depth chart? Going through a season without 3 DPs would be a major blow to the perception of the club , believe it or not.

While I would hate it, I could see us selling Isi for a couple of million dollars. He's only 25 and a threat RW threat.

Isi has not been a regular starter but his goal per 90 stats are great, and his goal per shot stats are insane, literally incomprehensible.
I was sure he would revert to the mean this year but he hasn't. I'm shocked. He's slightly off last year's goal per shots pace but it's really de minimis. The disappointment is he's only on pace to take about the same number of shots.

I'd be curious if the data shows that ITS coverts at an insane rate, or is just insanely good with his shot selection. The eye test says he isn't just taking easy shots, if anything, they're tougher than average.

I compared him to the top 25 goal scorers over 2018-19 in MLS, excluding himself, using the ASA tables.

The average of the other top scorers is 0.16 xG per Shot. His is 0.10. You are correct he is taking lower percentage shots.
The others average 0.18 Goals per shot, slightly above their xG. Isi gets 0.30 Goals per Shot, three times his xG.
It's insane.

PS: The threshold to make Top 25 goal scorers in MLS over 2018-19 is only 12. With 6 just this year, Air Bear is tied for 41st place.

I wonder if he sees the positive or the negative of the goal frame? By that I mean, does he instinctively see the keeper or the void where the keeper isn’t. Much like those psychological picture tests where, for most people, the first thing the eye focuses on is the dark shape, but when you focus on the inverse/light areas, you realize it’s a completely different diorama.

I’ve always wondered if the best goal scorers see the inverse first, and as such focus first on the open space of the goal, and no on the GK. There’s no studies that I know of to back this up, but I’d venture the majority of shots either go right at the keeper (he’s the focus and by default the subconscious target) or right are the corner post (usually with bad aim that goes wide). And I’d wager that’s because most of society sees the dark figure before the void.

Now maybe Messi and Ronaldo and other top scorers just compute the location of the keeper/post/etc lightning fast and place their shots between, but I really wonder if maybe they see the goalmouth differently???? Throw Isi in there too with his ridiculous shot/goal ratio.

And if there ever is a study done on this, that scientist/researcher better give me credit for the thought.

omg also just realizing the next home game after that is Sporting KC.

So i'll be there in my United shirt and Scotland flag, watching GMS and Johnny Russell and trying not to bawl with pride.
If you don’t bring haggis in to eat during the match, I’m gonna question your highlander status.

I decided to visualize our international break/transfer players vs our schedule to see when we'd have them back.

Looks like we have Johnson for USOC v Orlando. Mata for Seattle (baring a crazy upset vs Mexico). Ofori maybe for Colorado, but as early as possibly Orlando or NJ. Callens for Seattle baring an upset vs Uruguay. And GMS for Orlando as his first eligible match.

so i read he did not make the final list so technically shouldn't he be back?
