Any and all discussion to do with the 2019 campaign.
Important news such as signings, departures and significant rumors are deserving of a separate thread.

No Rodney Wallace, please. Sands and Scally more minutes. We need another $6mil DP that gets asses in seats and injects some more umph into the club. Gignac, please! Or one of LMX's best forwards will do. Keeping our core of Maxi, Isi, Ring, Callens, Chanot, Tinner, Medina/Mata will be important.

Did we pay off Medina's fee this year to get him under the Young DP threshold in 2019? Do we have two DP spots then? Herrera will be the X factor. If we have him, we'll compete again. If not, we could be middling so his replacement would be almost priority #1.

How serious is Greizeman about coming to MLS and when do we think he could actually make the move?

Based on some tweets I’ve seen, I get the impression that he’d actually come here sooner than later, but I have to admit I haven’t dug deep into it or looked into his contract situation.

Move Berget and his $800k salary.
I don’t think we’ve yet seen the best of him because he’s played out of position a lot - If Villa is on the field, berget has to shift to the left wing which diminishes his skill set. And he does stuff that nobody else on the team is really good at, like running the lanes, getting his head on the ball, and creating opportunities for receiving through balls (only Maxi and Villa do it besides him). Plus, the other attackers are wingers and he’s a true forward. If Villa isn’t here next year, then we need a veteran forward as a foundation.

He will be a young DP until the last year of his contract. I know there are disagreements on this but I don't really mind his contract since it allows us to spend more on TAM level players.

For the Villa discussion keep in mind, that in order to replace him with a high level DP that will likely mean waiting until the summer transfer window to get a big name on a free transfer and going half a season without a DP.

I think Berget is a must keep if Villa retires especially in the situation I outlined above. I think he plays exactly how Dome wants his striker to play. With the ability to spend discrrtionary TAM, the cap impact of his salary is minimal. We don't really have alot of spots to spend it on. Maybe a left back and on Yangel or his replacement? Can't really spend it on bench players.

Who do you guys see leaving the club this offseason?
I tho k we clear house. With a whole new coaching staff I think we make a lot of changes.
Tommy Mac and Wallace I hope will be gone. Clears up a lot of space.

I don't know about Chanots contract but it was interesting that he was not extended.

Depends on who is guaranteed, but without knowing contract details I could see all of these players moving on:

Abdul-Salaam
Amagat
Awuah
Castellanos
Herrera (unfortunately)
Lewis
Matarrita
Wallace
McNamara

I also wonder what happens to Hountondji. He's been injured all season -- do they bring him back or cut bait?

I believe we'll see the back of Lewis, because even the current management seems to think he's not needed. We've seen how dangerous he can be in the attack, and how unreliable he is in tracking back and defending. I think Domé feels that his weaknesses are a bigger factor than his strengths. Also, I believe that Lewis himself must be fed up with the situation, and perhaps thinks that he can get a bigger role elsewhere.
Wallace has become a bit part player, and McNamara isn't even that anymore. I'd be surprised if they were retained after the season.
Apart from them, I can't see many who are certain to leave. Maybe one of the reserve goalkeepers? Medina is an interesting case. He hasn't achieved what everybody hoped he would, but he's a youngster, and there's every chance that he'll grow a lot as a player, with a full season's experience in his bag.

I can't see Berget leaving, no way. He's the only target man type forward in the side, and unless a Mandzukic or suchlike becomes available for a reasonable price, he will be needed. I also believe that the club is looking for any possible way to keep hold of Herrera, who is growing into a hell of a player. And he's still only a youngster. I doubt there are clubs queuing for Matarrita's signature, but if a club from i.e. Southern Europe shows some interest, he could be gone.

Whatever happens with Villa - will he retire, who would he be replaced with - it was a very good sign that the club could tie Johnson, Callens and Ring to new contracts, because that's a very good spine of a team, and definitely a strong signal to any first class player who's pondering on whether NYCFC would be the right address to choose.

I wonder if the market for Herrera needs an extended spell of play from him to develop.

I can't imagine him playing at City and can't imagine anyone is lining up to buy him given the injury.

I think best for all parties to bring him back, although I could see him coming back and then getting sold away next summer.

I would agree that he should return for one more non-injury filled year, but I could also see Man City try to send him to a better team, maybe in the Championship or something.

I hope he returns, but I'll be surprised if he does.
