2019 Schedule Thread

ALDS October 4 - 10
ALCS October 12 - 20
World Series October 22 - 30

MLS Cup Playoffs start on October 19...

Unless the Yankees are swept in the ALCS, I believe a potential first round home playoff game will be moved.

I think we covered this thoroughly. Hopefully we get the bye. But even then 2nd Rd may have to move if they don’t have time to turn over the World Series field we learned takes more time.

Playoffs start Oct. 12 or 13, I thought. The whole point of the new format was no bye weeks during the playoffs, and they finish before the November international break.

First Round is 10/19. If we win the conference our first game would be the 26th. If the Yankees are in the WS we can assume we couldn't have a playoff game in YS until 11/2

I do not envy the ticketing staff who have to correlate all of our seats at YS to Citi for the Playoff game.

No way that happens! It'll be times to log on and pick seats. or like last time, first come first serve with all STHs getting 1 time and then opening it up to everyone else.

Kind of funny that one of the reasons they had in the survey for STH benefits was "Having the same seat for every match". There goes that one out the window.

Weird. The whole point was to not have a break that kills the playoffs, so now there's going to be two weeks between Decision Day and the playoffs -- and three weeks for the No. 1 seeds between Decision Day and the 2nd round.

The playoffs are working around an international break now and only having weekend games. That's the 2 week lag. Top seed still better off with a bye than playoff game -- way easier to win 3 games in a row than 4 to win the Cup.

Having a break before the playoffs is far superior to having one during the playoffs. Sometimes it even came in the middle of a 2-game tie. That was a momentum killer. Do you have a better solution in mind given the FIFA international breaks from Oct 7-15 and Nov 11-19?

No I like this system, I forgot there was an international window in October. So no, I don't have a better option.

Knowing NYCFC though, should we make the playoffs, all our international players who go to their national teams for the FIFA international window will come back injured for the playoffs.

Imagine the MLS executives roundtable before the playoffs starts and some big star DP signing is not going to play in the playoffs because of an injury during the FIFA international window.

Callens - Peru has a home and home with Uruguay 10/11 & 10/15
Mitri - plays Faroe Islands 10/12, Norway 10/15 (hope he pissed enough ppl off he doesn't get invited)
Ofori - Ghana has a group stage match 10/18, in the middle of our playoffs!, no way we release him.
Mata - nothing scheduled for Costa Rica
Chanot - Luxembourg goes to Portugal 10/11 and Denmark 10/15
Johnson - no USMNT scheduled matches (hopefully they call up other backups)

Callens barely plays. It's Chanot that worries me the most from this group.

These are all friendlies, correct?
If so, I would hope that the NTs would show some consideration by not calling players on MLS playoff teams, seeing as the world is filled with leagues that won't have that issue and they can easily fill their rosters without them.

No the 10/11 match for Chanot is a Euro Qualifier. I believe the rest are all friendlies.
