2019 Schedule Thread

we need to pick up road wins this year to offset the 4 Home draws. And this is hardly a great insight I'm offering but you have to target Chicago or Columbus since LAG has built their record on a perfect 6 games at home so far.
This is the sort of high quality predictive content I like to think I'm known for.

So it looks like we will host against New England, but not Orlando.

Never mind. Gotham Gator Gotham Gator cleared it up. Didn’t realize Revs have a match on the 12th.

I would think MLS would move one of the dates. But we’re so constrained with the Yankee’s schedule. And Revs have to deal with the Pats in a month or so.

MLS isn't moving the dates of the regular season matches and New England has the right to host (though we may host if they can't figure it out, New England has priority to host but can withdraw from hosting). New England also has a game on the 26th of June. I'd expect the game to be on the 22nd or 23rd of June should we beat D.C. and New England advance past Orlando.

Hmm, that would be interesting to play it so early, but would be really good for us to get it out of the way when there are no games and before our schedule gets packed come July. Only sad part would be still not having Sands available.

One of the bummers about our schedule is that New England, San Jose and Colorado have gone from dumpster fires to some of the hottest teams in the league, and we have yet to play any of them.

I can really only somewhat agree with Colorado.

San Jose was only bad for six (arguably only 4 and maybe not even that*) games this year before turning it around.
We never do well against New England no matter what. And I still do not think they're that good. If we disappoint again this year I won't blame the schedule.
Colorado was bad for 11 games. Would have been nice to play them then but that's still only 1/3 of a season. But it was enough that a bit of good scheduling luck would have helped.

But there's also some less obvious ones.
We played Toronto when they had Jozy and Bradley and before a big downswing, and now both are back before we play them again.
We didn't play RBNY While Kemar Lawrence and BWP were out for extended times and they are both back.
It's conceivable Pity starts clicking and Atlanta plays better by the time we finally play them.

On the plus side we did get to play Columbus in a 14 game sequence in which the Crew earned only 4 points (but we gave them one of the four).
I worried Cincinnati would get better with a new coach and before we get our 2 games but that didn't happen.
We caught Seattle in a slump and without several starters.
We play(ed) most of the best of the West -- LAFC, Seattle, Portland and SJ -- at home.
IF DC ever turns themselves around we will be happy to have played them 2x in the first half of the season.

Really I think the worst part of our schedule is we still have to play 16 games in 12 weeks (after tomorrow), on top of the busy 2 weeks finishing up.

* SJ won Game 5 and lost Game 6 in Houston where the home team gets 2+ PPG, then went 11 games with 1 loss. Of their 4 opening losses 1 was in RBA and another was home to LAFC, neither of which is indicative of disfunction. They really were not bad for any meaningful amount of time this year.

MLS Cup is November 10, 2019

Princeton vs. Dartmouth at Yankee Stadium is November 9, 2019

I guess there will be a conspiracy that will prevent us from hosting MLS Cup this year.
