Find it highly interesting and irrational by the drive-by posters that belittle other forum members for their personal qualms towards an organization they have a financial transaction with. If you’re happy with your tix and the products/services you’re being rendered then that’s great and glad you feel good about your purchase, but taking passive aggressive shots at others on the basis of non-shared values is well, pretty pathetic.

On a separate note, and accountants would have to verify the accuracy of it, but this tix scheme seems like a lot of bottom line gymnastics for the club. Having 10k tix sold bring them that X-profit, and selling 20k tix at half the cost brings them the same X-profit, but selling 10k tix and giving away 10k tix yields them the double occupancy with the full tix-income but also gives them 10k tix of business deductions to claim which reduces their tax burden. Again, not my profession so the accounts will know more about how donated goods/services hit the balance sheet.
Donated goods and services hit the income statement, not the balance sheet.

I'm not quite sure how they could claim these as donations either, as they wouldn't be going to any non-profit organizations, and I don't see how there would be any extra expense with providing an additional ticket as it's not a good, and there is no direct service associated with it.

For me, the point of all of this is the fun and enjoyment I get out of the live game day experience. I look forward to it, I love it, and I remember it. If I could choose one thing to improve about that experience, it has always been addressing the attendance issues. Do whatever it takes. If free tickets like this help, I am all for it. If they need to donate more tickets to youth soccer and kids organizations, great. If it means revisiting the use of DP spots for mixed motive signings prior to a new stadium, they should be strongly considering that. I don't believe that this is some scheme to save marketing dollars, but with that said, do a better job with marketing in all respects. As for the free tickets, all teams do this, many with much less of a need to do so. It seems to me that a secondary ticket market for a team that is so far from capacity is always going to be a losing proposition, so it should not be a consideration for or impediment to marketing decisions. While I agree that some of the mechanics of this promotion are not perfect, the motivation is the correct one.

So not a good, but a service (entertainment)? What about a line item marketing expense - Each tix has an inherent value that is going towards increasing future viewership/STH and facilitating immediate sales of concessions & merchandise? Much like the free trip to Disney world so you’ll sit in a seminar about the wonders of owning a timeshare - they definitely deduct the cost of getting the folks to sit in the seminar.

There wouldn't be any associated expense attached to each ticket. The only "extra expense" would be to create and distribute the cards I would think.

I'm not sure where you're looking at having costs deducted. Sure, these folks could come in and buy more concessions, etc. Perhaps that means an extra couple of people working concessions, but that cost I don't believe would be burdened by the club as its through Legends, and maybe some additional revenue would come trickling in.

I think you're reaching on this one.

Listen, it's nice to be able to share NYCFC with others and I've brought many people to their first games. I would love to be able to give free tickets to friends of mine. Does this card allow them to sit with me? Doesn't appear that's likely. I don't know the likelihood of me just giving these to some random person. I would hate to give them to someone and then they're not used.

I still don't see how this is a benefit to me. Most of us think there's not a ton of value in season tickets. We want the club to improve that value. Does this do that? No.

What kinda thing would improve the value of your season tickets?

Bring in a player like Rooney, Vella, Zlatan, or Martinez. Close off more sections of YS and cap it at like 23k. Larger discount on food and merchandise. How about applying discounts to Yankees tickets as well?

I don't see how bringing in a big name brings value to a STH. I would say creating a winning squad will do that, whether its with big names or not. We're doing pretty well despite not having any big names. While I would love for us to bring in a big name, I don't want it to be an aging european who may or may not put in the effort. We already have that in our young european (i.e., Mitri).

Totally agree on the other stuff. They should just close off more sections of YS for our games to make the stadium look fuller. Definitely a larger discount on food and merch. I think 20-25% is reasonable. At the same time, they should lower food and merch prices to get more people interested and involved. Lower priced merch means more people buy it means more people see it out and about means more people look into it and attend games.

I'd also add - exclusive merch that's actually high quality and well designed (not leftover stuff). a nicer welcome box each season would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't put Martinez in the big name category. He's obviously had big success in MLS, but prior to coming here, wasn't a Zlatan or a Rooney. And Vela is kind of in a separate category there as well. I know he's a bit of a name, especially with Mexicans, but he wasn't the global or aging superstar of Rooney or Zlatan.

CFG has the money to bring in well known players that are still in their prime, but they choose to bring in players like Medina and Mitrita. Those players (even if they were very good) aren't going to bring any attention to this club.

The biggest way to increase the value of our season tickets is to lower our prices. All the secondary stuff like bigger discounts and better STH boxes are cool, but the biggest value add is to make our investment cheaper.

I do agree that closing off more seats at YS makes a lot of sense. Another thing they could do is offer free upgrades for season ticket holders 24-48 hours before a match, allowing us to occupy more premium seats that haven’t sold. That way they can ensure the lower bowls are almost always full.

I think part of the problem is that most of the "more expensive" seating is unappealing. I wouldn't even consider sitting on the field level behind the nets and at such a low angle. So you could upgrade me all you want but I would prefer my seats in 233B behind the goal than seats in section 125.

but will they come though? would a James come over? i know miami were rumored but it still feels he wants europe at least for a couple of years. even though the reputation has improved MLS still has that retirement stigma.

Thanks for the response. Way more constructive. I agree with a lot of this with reservations about player acquisition, which doesn't appear anymore to be a lack of effort or investment, instead just poor judgment.

I don't care to go to the Yankees games but feels like a nice way to play up / lean on that partnership.

Agreed. When we mentioned Martinez before, he fits into the Medina and Mitrita type of acquisitions, except we exercised poor judgment and those players haven't made much of an impact (Medina won't, still hopeful for Mitrita, but doesn't look too great at the moment).

Well the Sims letter has gone out...what I'm a bit disappointed is that there's a new Terms and Conditions form to sign. We signed one back in 2017. Too much legal documents.

I'm waiting on the lawyers of the Forum to acknowledge this agreement is okay before I hit continue.

If NYCFC permanently relocates the site of its home MLS regular season games to any venue other than the Stadium, this Membership Agreement shall automatically terminate.

NYCFC reserves the right to relocate the Tickets to any other location in the Stadium (with a price adjustment, if applicable, based on the rate at which NYCFC is offering the new seats for sale at the time of relocation) if NYCFC determines, in its sole discretion, that such relocation is advisable to facilitate any construction project or other alteration or modification to the Stadium, or due to any requirements of MLS, SUM, NYY or any governmental authority or other reasons beyond the control of NYCFC.

Agreed. I have tried other sections of the stadium. As long as we are stuck in Yankee Stadium, 233A will be home.

Opinions on the value of season tickets clearly vary. No hard data, but I suspect that those disappointed are in sections that cost more but are baseball seats, whereas those satisfied are in sections that might cost less but are soccer seats.

I'm on mobile with spotty connectivity. Am I right that you can't see the new pricing until you sign the terms? Because I think that's what I'm seeing and that's petty if so.

Invoices are posted. My endline preferred seats went up it looks like - $33 per ticket in 2019, up to 36 per ticket in 2020. JFC.
