that's a great question..... Fedex told me to contact NYCFC, who told me to contact Fedex..... Apparently it didn't even require a signature, so no one can tell me why, in three visits to my building (and with explicit instructions to leave it there) they failed to leave it there.
now you'll have at least 30 days before you need them

email to season ticket holders just now...pausing city member payments. Right move.

Dear City Members,

First off, wishing all of you good health and safety.

Given the announcement that MLS has decided to suspend/postpone the 2020 season for a 30-day period as a result of COVID-19 (the coronavirus), we will also be suspending payment plans for this month and will re-evaluate in 30 dayswith further direction from MLS.

Your monthly installment was due on Monday (March 16th), but we want to assure you – our most loyal fans – that we are pausing payment plans for the time being.

The League is working through a process of rescheduling missed games for later in the year and is confident that we’ll be able to play a full season, including playoffs. To be clear, games are currently postponed – not canceled. The March payment will be redistributed evenly over the remaining months on your payment plan.

As addressed in our Club statement, NYCFC will ensure that all season, group and individual tickets already purchased for any postponed matches will be honored once rescheduled.

They had me up until this point - there are 6 months left so spreading the March payment can mean a big difference for some

For example, I pay roughly $98 a month so I owe $588, but across 5 months would be roughly $118 - sure it's $20 more and I can swing it, but might be hard for others

I get that if there ends up being a full season, it would make sense that you pay what is owed in full, but still...

I had the same thought when reading it. If ever there was a time to make a goodwill gesture, this was it, and this isn’t doing anything other than redistributing the payment.

Postponing payment was expected since no product is being produced, so that part isn’t really a good will gesture, especially considering fans have pre-paid 50% of the season without seeing a single home match.

What's the big deal if a payment that would have been paid anyway gets spread out later? Just put the March money aside and chip away at it for the later months.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but if you're so strapped for cash that this would break your bank or cause financial strain then probably shouldn't be a sth. It is a luxury after all.

My issue with it is nobody yet knows what’s happening with the season other than the league is hoping to reschedule postponed games. People are already paid up through half the season of 17 home matches with none yet played. To me, it’s disingenuous for the team to be talking about how they’re planning to continue billing without even broaching the subject of offering refunds if people don’t feel safe attending any longer. The club’s email easily could have stopped after saying they were postponing this month and say they’ll address things after more information is known about the future of this season and associated logistics. It really just seemed a bit tone-deaf.

Yes I agree it's a bit premature of them to say how they intend to do billing when we are no where near knowing when this whole situation will end. Would have been nice to just announce the pause and say something along the lines of billing will be adjusted when the situation is clearer. Bit nearsighted to assume the league will resume in 30 days.

forget feeling safe. This thing will hopefully pass. But if they plan to play a bunch of matches in NJ and don’t offer refunds the fan base will revolt.

The email was referring to the scenario in which they still play 17 home matches this season. As of right now, that is the primary plan. The league has only officially suspended play for 30 days.
If the suspension lasts longer and or 17 matches aren't going to be played, then other options will come along.

Even if the season resumes, there is still going to be a degree of fear and risk, which may vary based upon individuals’ personal circumstances, pre-existing health issues, age, family, new financial strain etc. With that, an option to forego on the season and/or certain games and get a refund or credit should be carefully considered. There is little chance it happens, and no obligation to do so, but it sure would be an appropriate response to extraordinary circumstances.

There might be legal implications if they continue to charge us. A lot of folks probably pay it all up front but I'd guess that most do the payment plan. Those two different plans may have different contractual obligations in a sense so league or club lawyers may think this it necessary for liability reasons. If this were May instead of March it might be different as at the moment nobody's used their tickets but we've either paid all or a lot of the full year's ticket amount. Not a lawyer but I wouldn't think they'd do something like this lightly.

I paid up front. Already traded in a bunch of mid week & Citi Field tix towards pitchside upgrade for the Derby. Gonna be super pissed if I’m just stuck with a bunch of “credits” that I don’t have any need for, or tix to a bunch now rescheduled to mid-week games I probably can’t make, but no refund options.

I’m not sure how refunds won’t be made available. If the season shifts, that’s already a different product than advertised. If the season even starts back up there’s zero chance all the games are played in 2020, so those would ethically have to be refunded.

However, I have serious doubts the season starts back up, and if it does, I’m not sure I’d go to a single game out of concerns for safety - and if the club cannot guarantee my safety, and that of my friends/family that join me, then I’m not sure how they could fight refunds.

Being a city member means you agreed to the terms of membership. I'm sure many didn't read the fine print, but the club has discretion when games or venues are changed. There's nothing that stops them from issuing refunds and given the situation and circumstances leading to it, it would show a lot of character and good will toward its supporters to give refunds when they do not have to. But I don't think we should assume or expect refunds.

Had a minute so here's the relevant part...

All Sales are Final. No Refunds or Exchanges:
Payments must be timely made on or before the agreed upon payment plan dates. For those on installment payment plans, in the event you fail to make any timely required payments, New York City FC reserve the right to either (a) withhold your tickets for upcoming events until payment is made and the account is in good standing or (b) terminate your Membership, with any payments made prior to the termination date forfeited by you.

In the event of a cancellation, rescheduling or relocation of the applicable event, NYCFC shall not be required to issue a refund provided that you are given the right, within twelve months of the date of the original event, to attend a rescheduled performance of the same event or to exchange this ticket for a ticket, comparable in price and location to another similar event as designated by NYCFC.

We will be getting refunds because the event in question is not going to be played within the next 12 months.

MLS 2020 is not happening.

Stop kidding yourself that society is going back to normal before a vaccine is put out and that won’t happen (unless the FDA rescinds testing protocols) for another 12-18 months and then will need 300million doses for the US and another 5billion for the world, which to manufacture and distribute will take longer.

Further, if they don’t refund me, they will have lost me forever. If they’re so greedy that they’re going to keep payment for season tix to games that are never played, then Fck them to hell because that’s the most unethical company to hide behind a pandemic.
