2020 Concacaf Champions League

I get that playing in a baseball stadium presents plenty of challenges that they don’t face at home, but I have a lot less patience for those teams that football stadium.

They’re only in the spot they’re in now because there already happens to be a NFL stadium in a decent spot. Not because they built a SSS.

I’m sure we could have played our home games at MetLife if the owners truly wanted that. But we all know that would end in disaster considering that location.

this is the truth, though i dont doubt they can fill out a SSS of their own ill still give them shit for it till they have one ( which i know they wont).

atlanta fans would argue you to the death about how the benz was built to be a soccer stadium as much as an NFL stadium. but i digress.

can't stand the bitching from other fans either. not like we love it either. i just wonder what they'll bitch about when we're playing in a SSS and they're still on shitty turf in a shitty NFL stadium.

If it was, then you’d be able to see the corners from everywhere, including TV

i agree with you that it isn't and that making it a soccer field was an afterthought. but ATL fans will argue that it was part of the plan all along. *shrug* fans be fans.

Agree with Soup’s initial thoughts. Artificial turf is worse than bad sightlines and a smaller pitch.

One caveat is that in Seattle, the stadium really was built with soccer in mind. In fact, the owners made that clear up front because without support from soccer fans, the referendum to build the stadium would not have passed.

I would say that's slightly misleading. It was advertised for whatever purpose would get the referendum passed. The Seahawks were shit, and people were opposed because a billionaire (Paul Allen) said he would buy the team and keep them in Seattle (then-owner Ken Behring was proposing to move to Southern Cal) if the city approved a new $425 million stadium in a 'public-private partnership' involving $300 million in public money. Allen picked up the entire $4.2 million tab of holding the statewide referendum, and spent $3.2 million on TV ads making it "difficult to watch a hour-hour of Seattle television without running into a pro-stadium advertisement." (NYT: A Decision on the Seattle Seahawks' Home 5/25/1997; AP: Paul Allen: Seahawks' fate in voters' hands 6/15/1997).

This was all happening in the late 90's. It wasn't until 2007 that anyone put together an MLS expansion bid for what would become the Sounders. That's why the pro-stadium TV ads were completely generic platitudes

Montreal is getting spanked at home. Olimpia look like the cinderella story of this year's CCL if they keep doing this to teams..

over 75% possession but they managed to claw back a goal with a wonderstrike 35 yards out. Montreal did this to themselves.

Let's hope our boys can get their heads out of their ass and bring their finishing boots tomorrow night.. i would love to light up tigres all night long.

wow... wild one tonight!

concacaf refs are so bad..
Given that you posted this during the first half, I can only imagine your jaw has hit the floor. This is bananas

So I missed what happened. What's gooing on that I missed? I'm tuning into the second half right now.
Numerous fouls and players surrounding the ref. Culminating in Atuesta getting fouled while taking a shot in the box but it’s missed, then when he’s getting up, unclear what happened to me but he and Memo Ochoa come together, and Atuesta gets red carded. Gets more physical between the two sides’ coaching staffs on the way to the locker room. Then Vela comes out and bangs two goals in within a minute of the second half starting
