2020 CCL

Tell them it's steam, which is more representative of what they are in the actual streets anyway.
Then tell’m it’s asbestos laced steam.

Edit: kidding, sorta.... reg stacks on the street are ok...... if there’s ever a steam break, ala burst pipes spewing steam from the (broken) ground, keep the Fck away - there is asbestos wrapping most historic steam piping under the streets.

oh wow, I didn't know this. Thanks for telling us!

Also, everyone in the world, except maybe very small numbers in a handful of extremely remote, never industrialized pockets, has asbestos in their lungs. I do. You do. And the vast majority of us never develop any asbestos related disease. You certainly don't want to add to the amount in yours unnecessarily, and I'm not diminishing the harm done to people with more substantial exposures, but don't lose sleep just because there's asbestos all over and you might have been exposed. You have been, and it probably will never, ever matter.

Dammit Garbo, thanks for breaking the juju and causing the biggest asbestos related disease breakout - only to happen to fans of a single team.

You can eat asbestos safely. For some reason, that’s very interesting to me.

Mark is not incorrect, as car break pads use asbestos, and there are some other uses still in various industries (although construction has eliminated it fully from all new work). So while you shouldn’t lose sleep over minute circumstantial contact, it is prudent to give a wide berth if emergency street repairs are kicking up suspect vapors.

I don’t think it’s been said, but Seattle would get the last CCL spot if they win the MLS Cup. They also get the last CCL spot if a Canadian team (TFC) wins the MLS Cup. Therefore, Seattle will qualify as the last CCL spot.

so the 4 USSF CCL spots for 2020 are:

1. LAFC
2. NYCFC
3. ATL
4. SEA

draw is 12/9 on Univision. Let’s lock this thread or RE-name it 2020 CCL.

This is the first time the mls contingent is the top group of teams and is the group most deserving.

Thanks. I've been meaning for a few days to come and post this.

Just for curiosity, does anyone know if the players get paid extra for participating in CCL, or the new Campeones Cup or Leagues Cup? Or does the contract just run for a set time period and you're obligated to play in any official games that come up? CCL seems the most likely to require extra pay because your offseason break is shorter, but it could also be the same as appearing in MLS Cup which also shortens your break.

I did some googling and players do not earn additional $$ for participating in Champions League. Looks like they can and do negotiate bonuses for winning and some have contracts that require bonuses for goals. Cant imagine its much different in MLS.

The first time the US MLS contingent is the top group of teams. Montreal will be heading to CCL from Canada.
Didn’t Montreal win the tournament that most mattered for Canada? Or put differently, didn’t Toronto come up short when the only method of advancement was on the line?

Tangentially in response -- It's impressive that in the last 20 years 4 MLS teams have made it to the finals and Canada has 2 of them when the US has 4x as many entrants every year.

Canada just proved they are better at soccer than the USA. Maybe move the MLS league offices to Canada and we can become a top league in the world.
