2020 Roster Discussion

so sporting went out and got pulido as rumored.

wish we'd drop medina and go after a star ourselves. i don't think we NEED a star forward, but honestly don't think it wouldn't hurt. Especially, if Heber's injury woes continue in 2020.

that being said, it seems our biggest needs are in midfield depth and lwb depth. I highly suspect ofori and parks will return for 2020 but we won't know until january when the european transfer window starts and negotiations can start on their loans and/or purchases. i don't think we'll end up buying parks because i don't think he wants to stay here long term. his aspirations are in europe and that's ok. we might end up buying ofori though.

with the two of them back, we'll essentially have the same exact squad. i doubt we'll sign any new players until a new coach is hired. having the same squad will benefit us for CCL and starting the season cause we'll have chemistry and a playing style.

still though.. we need a coach asap.

I'm not so sure about Ofori coming back, $400k is too much for a guy who couldn't hold onto a starting spot.

If we end up selling medina, I think we should try to go for a lights-out, best in the league 8 or 6 superstars, with ring able to fill in the 6 or 8 (preferably the 6), getting someone who can cover ground, link the back to front and play well with maxi could really be what we need to get the cup. We all are fawning over parks to come back but I think we should aim for an even better player for the midfield

This is where I’m at. Ring. DP. Maxi. Up the spine.

I think what you propose would be ideal. but at this moment, getting parks back might be our best move. 1 - we don't have a coach, so signing a big player that potentially doesn't fit into the new coach's plans could potentially be wasteful. 2 - parks already has chemistry with the guys and knows how we play. not having a coach and a short preseason before CCL makes existing chemistry and an established style all the more important.

not having a coach is our biggest problem in getting someone to replace medina or any new players for that matter.

should we feel hopeful that parks hasn't changed his social media to reflect that he's no longer within the club? also he's apparently still in the area.

would be nice to have him back on loan again

Loan goes until 12/31/2019

To be clear this means the current loan goes until 12/31/2019, so he's likely in the city until then. He probably also has a lease that continues through then so to get his month's worth, he's staying here.

I did not know that loan terms require a player to stay in the general vicinity of the club until the loan ends, even after the season ends. Smart of Parks to know that and make sure his lease ended at the same time.

...that actually wouldn't surprise me. We don't have a USL team because we are the developmental team.
The guy has earned it if anybody in the CFG org has. The HGs are all his product and they play a very active & attacking style.

That said, it would feel like a last choice cop-out if they announce him after all of the silence, begging the question why not sooner if he was truly at the top 2-3 on the list.....
