Preseason roster is out!

Includes three new trialists:

- Cody Mizell, a 28 year old GK who once had a cup of coffee with the Rapids

- DJ Taylor, a 22 year old RB at North Carolina FC who spent a bit of time with a couple of Spanish academies

- Dre Fortune, a 23 year old attacking midfielder and former Red Bulls trialist who recently got his first cap for Trinidad
A little surprised by the lack of recognizable names from the Academy. I realize that most of the U19s that won the DA Cups are now in college, but it feels like more of them should be part of NYCFC. If only we had a USL team.

Eh. I’d rather take a full ride at UVA than play USL soccer.
MLS clubs don't partake in enough matches/competitions to really have a large squad for rotation. Top Premier League teams compete in the PL, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Champions League/Europa League, friendlies, etc.

For most that aren't going to crack the first team, a college experience at a top program is much better than USL. Plus MLS is still a league where you can get a position after college through a homegrown contract (see Jordan Morris).

So yeah, I'd agree with you. But stay all four years, depending on how MLS ready you are...

he looks a lot happier and more comfortable in the pictures - unlike last year when he showed up and seemed more reserved - I think that's a good sign for how he'll play this season, how he was after he broke out of that shell towards the middle of the season.

Definitely looking forward to a full season of him being an available winger. We need more 1v1 capable players who can also shoot from anywhere. If he's on the field, I hope he's taking all inswinger free kicks cause they are usually lethal. Glad he'll be with us for a while yet
Looking forward to a good fullchealthy year from Isi.

The players I believe can step it up a notch this year are:
Isi
Mitri
Taty
Parks
Sands
Maybe even Medina? I feel for that guy but I think he needs a new club.
The rest of the squad I expect to play pretty much on the same level as last year.

Surprised by this. Thought he may push for a move away. I guess that settles who starts opposite Mitri on the wing.

Also - very very happy about this extension. Think he’s a terrific player on both sides of the ball

If Taty steps it up a notch from last year, there's no way he's not sold by the summer.
