2020 Roster Discussion

was gonna say the same thing. MLS quality is higher than a lower level european league.. unless he's going to a D2 team in one of the big 5. BUt even then, getting actual playing time is more important than just being in europe. another year under Dome. another year to surge in MLS and become one of the top strikers along with Heber, and then make the jump to europe.

I dunno. I would put at least the Eredivisie and the Primeira in Portugal ahead of MLS. Maybe others. I mean, Keaton couldn't even make senior roster in Benfica. The Portuguese league routinely sells players to bigger leagues for 4x what MLS sells. Same for the Dutch. Let's not be homers.

i didn't mean to say MLS is better than the dutch or portuguese top flight. MLS has a way to go yet to be considered a top 10 league in the world. even not considering european leagues, the south american leagues are better in terms of producing quality, right now.

Obviously, Eredivisie and Portuguese Primeria aren't "lower level european leagues" .

I'd put him around the same trajectory as Jack Harrison. Similar production, different players, but that $5-8mil sweet spot sounds right for next year
FWIW ...

Jack in his last year with NYCFC:
goals - 10
assists - 3
goals + assists / 90 - 0.40

Taty this year:
goals - 10
assists - 4
goals + assists / 90 - 0.71

Taty market value greater than Jack?

Jack is English and doesn't need a visa to play in Europe. Taty, does and you need national team minutes to get one for Europe.

I’m assuming Jack played a lot more minutes too.

Funny thing having a reputation

Jack was a wing. Taty is a striker/CF. Different goal expectations from a positional standpoint and there was the Villa factor of being option number one.

Does anyone agree with me that Taty is a better prospect at the same age?
What’s your criteria? They took different paths for different reasons. Harrison probably has a better education but got a later start with first team ball - a life-decision tradeoff. Harrison will probably also be in the EPL first if Leeds continues it’s form. Harrison is a better technical dribbler and passer. Taty is a better finisher. Harrison plays better defense. Taty may have a slightly better work rate. Harrison can break ankles in a split second. Taty has an uncanny ability to find space in the box. Harrison stays on his feet to a fault. Taty has never met a breeze that wouldn’t knock him over if in the box. Harrison can play all positions across the middle and wings. Taty can play all positions across the front. One is a bit boy band with an ever doting mom, and the other has evil-boy band with ever doting tattoos.

Agreed. I was just thinking that a stint in the Championship would be good for his game. The fans would love him and he would enjoy the adulation.

Leeds would gladly take him. I could see him outscoring Bamford in a couple of years.

Dammit Jee we aren't sending all our younglings with potential and skill to Leeds, geez!

The rules are different for different countries. England is toughest and requires all those national team minutes. But, presumably Taty could play elsewhere.

I bet the mothership buys him next year, he finishes the season and gets loaned to Spain or the Netherlands or some place like that.

This is not meant to be a snarky answer. But my eyes.

I also think Taty is a better defender.

Girona would be a great proving ground for Taty. I could see him spending a season or season and a half there on loan from MCFC and then sold for an even bigger profit to a first tier La Liga or even EPL or Italian club.
