2020 Roster Discussion

Interesting to see what will happen during the next 10 days, as the transfer window in Europe then shuts. Are there new players yet to be signed? It is quite worrying that the team hasn't been strengthened in any way since the last season.

Interesting. I think someone posted the David Lee interview from The Athletic in which he said they were held up by the CBA. So if that doesn't get wrapped up real soon then they would have to go outside of Europe... ?

Technically because our window is open, I think we can sign players from Europe, but because their window is closed they wouldn't be able to sign anyone from us afterwards. I think that's how this window shit works, but I'm not certain.

Quite often especially January window's transfers are a chain of moves. Selling a player means you need a replacement. Those who are wanted change clubs before the end of January, and those who are let to move after the window closes are not wanted by their clubs, and often not wanted by anybody. Basically that means that the players who would strengthen NYCFC should be signed during the European window. I have no idea about how it works between the MLS / Central & South American leagues.

Our history would suggest otherwise. I haven't posted an updated version of this in a while. So below is the latest. Notable signings after January 23: Brillant, Callens, Ring, Herrera, Maxi, Mitri.

Exactly. Are either of those guys playing ahead of Heber or Isi or Mitrita etc?

This is why it benefits to go as deep as possible in all comps we are in, more games means more need for rotation, and an easily justifiable way of giving developing players time. Champions league I think is going to help us bring in young players to either earn spots as 18 or 11 material or gives the a showcase from which to sell them.

I would be ok sacrificing CCL to get our guys some reps but let Scally and Haak feature.
