2020 Roster Discussion

I think if NYCFC hosts MLS Cup, the league is going to step in and make college football an offer they can’t refuse. MLS, not CFG, runs all the logistics for MLS Cup. They will step up.
Exactly. This is one thing I learned from the Soccer in the City pod this week. MLS runs that game and will determine venue. I am sure NYC is involved and has a say, but the final decision will be up to MLS.

One thing that means is that we shouldn't read too much into the fact that the Club announced stadium plans for the two playoff games and not for the MLS Cup.

gotcha. So it would be held in Atlanta if NYCFC hosts. Good to know.

While MLS controls the game, it's pretty set in stone that LAFC, should they make the final, would host. If they don't, and we do, then MLS will still need to select a venue that gives us "home" field advantage. In that case, I think they'd give us RBA for the drama of it all!

The Soccer Don

Members on the forums have said that before NYCFC he tends to disappear for stretches, he's proven that so far in NY.

I think it’s more appropriate to say that he “appears” for stretches

True, but really it’s more of just a brief cameo, bordering on an uncredited extra role.

Remember, we lose one player and that's it. If we lose one player, it's not gonna be the end of the world.

the player will be from this pool: Sands sweat, GMS, Rocha, Miller, Stuver, JPT.

Please don't take stuver, I actually have taken a real liking to him, and he seems to be happy hear from all the videos!
The others I can do with leaving, but maybe I'd want Rocha to stay. did really really well imo.

The full list of players who could be taken in the expansion draft include:

JPT, Sweat, Stuver, Barraza, Ibeagha, GMS, Rocha, Miller, and Medina

Out of these players, we can protect ONE additional player. It'll be interesting who the team chooses to protect. Our only true backup CB (Ibeagha)? or our new wingers who we spent a year trying to sign (GMS)? or our non-contributing DP (Medina)? This is also assuming ofori and parks don't sign on in the off season.. and if they do, would they be automatically protected? not sure.

Tough call for me, especially with Ibeagha and Rocha stepping up their game these last few matches. GMS has lots of potential but he's just not showing it yet. If we lose sweat, we also lose our only backup LWB.
