I've seen people vehemently against it to the point of 'well gotta cancel my season tickets now!'
Yeah I kind of like them too. I'm lucky, I work on the east side of Manhattan and live on the west side so its a quick trip from work and then I'm home by 10.
However, I HATE them for the team, the short turnaround, hasty traveling, etc. It's no bueno for the ol' win-loss record.
its not to that extreme, but even from midtown i get out close to 6 ish so im literally running to make it by kickoff.
Orlando and Columbus lucked out.

It adds up. There are 3 regular international breaks during the season. End of March, beginning of June, and August/September. We skip all three. RSl plays in all three. That's why they have 3 midweek games and we have 6. We can still miss players for the rest of June and half of July for the Euros and other tournaments, but I think it is good we avoided additional games when we will be missing players.
This is the trade-off. Play in more international breaks or play more midweek games with congestion. My understanding is MLS lets teams pick their preference. Given we have a good number of guys who play for their national team, I'd prefer to have congestion where we have access to our full, deep roster, than more games with a lot of guys missing.

Exactly. Moving to Citi Field bought us 4 games of schedule flexibility. This can be "spent" in a few ways. Looks like we knocked out a couple of Wednesday games and avoided having to play over a couple of international breaks.
Ultimately, it would be interesting to see how our schedule lines up with the open weekends in Yankee Stadium. I think there might be a list toward the top of this thread. If I recall correctly, there were only 8-9 weekend dates available to begin with.
This is the first class way to announce a schedule.
Fast forward to the 50 second mark if you don't want to watch all 3 minutes.
I count 31 weekends in the season. So every team has a minimum of 3 double game weeks, which is what RSL has. There's a lot of logic to this, though I wonder why they didn't start the season sooner and make use of the available enclosed or warm weather sites as

It's still puzzling that we end up with all our midweek games at home, even after moving 4 games to Citi. But I'm also in the camp who likes at least some midweek games, so OK I guess.

I like Mark Booth, but our social media game sucks when it comes to being fun and clever in non-traditional, playful ways. I don't think it's Mark's fault. I think CFG won't allow anything like what Atlanta or DC did.
PS: Atlanta's was better, and worth watching in full.

I'm so happy I did not renew. My new rep was terrible and gave me many reasons to purchase games on the secondary market. I think ticket prices will be in the toilet. Legends go for under $100 and pitchside $250 at Yankees stadium. No way they stay around that price at Citi field.

nycfc is of course on a baseball field. But hey, at least they did a creative schedule release.
So I put together a spread sheet looking at all of the teams and who they are not playing. There was imbalance in the supporters shield race in the past based on the fact that each team didn't play every team the same amount of times. This adds just another layer of imbalance. I took every team's finishing spot in the supporter shield last year and added up those spots of the three teams that each team would be playing. For example NYCFC will not be playing RSL, POR, and MIN. RSL finished 6th, POR finished 11th, and MIN finished 7th. Added together that's a score of 24. Compare that to LAFC's who won't play CLB, ORL, and TOR who added together make a score of 51.
What this means is NYC will have an easier schedule because they wont play RSL, POR, and MIN while LAFC won't play CLB, ORL, TOR. (It would be in LAFC favor to play CLB and ORL because they were poor performers, but they won't).
The last column I ranked all the teams based on their score, meaning 1st has the easiest set of teams to play and 26th has the hardest set of teams to play. As always there are many other factors to take into consideration including home and away, rest of each team, teams change year to year, conferences, and travel. Another caveat is that since Miami and Nashville did not place last year I gave them the average score of 12.
The team who has the easiest set of teams to play is is Minnesota who miss out on playing NYC, PHI, and TOR.
The team who has the hardest set of teams is Miami who misses on playing VAN, SKC, and COL.
In the grand scheme of the schedule, this probably doesn't mean much, but it was an interesting exercise!

At least they finally stopped scheduling winter night games — 3/14 & 21 are 12:30 kickoffs vs the old 4pm kickoffs.
