2020 Schedule Thread

So MLB just postponed their Opening Day until mid-May. This could seriously affect NYCFC’s home games at Yankee Stadium this year considering MLB owners want to play all 162 games. Could possibly see more “home” games at RBA this season.

As I posted in the other thread, MLB's hope for 162 games was only valid if they started in April. Starting in May, they won't be playing 162 games, and not even close. They're probably in the 120-140 range.

Well I hardly think the MLBPA will allow the MLB to try and squeeze in 162 games. But from what I heard they would play well into November and World Series in December. Hopefully that won’t happen and the MLBPA doesn’t agree to such. As much as I love baseball, playing in November/December would be brutal for some teams.

Agree there's a very small chance of a 162-game schedule. Baseball might decide to play a couple of double-headers a week to make up some more games. Could decided to expand rosters, to alleviate the stress of those double-headers.

I haven't heard the idea that baseball would play until December. I think a World Series the week before Thanksgiving would be the absolute latest they will go. Soccer, apparently, is thinking of going all the way to December, but not baseball.

They may be forced to adopt the Euro calendar at the rate things are going right now. Pick up in July and play through. Or an Apertura and Clausura

At this point, I'd be shocked if we got a full 34-game schedule. The season isn't resuming for at least another 2 months, if not 4 months. We'll be lucky if we get a 24-game season.

It’ll be interesting to see where we’ll play if this season does get saved.

No, but only after someone official announces that we will. ;)
Realistically, I think it comes down to whether we have a season this year at all. If not, it makes sense to resume CCL in 2021 with the 2020 participants. If they squeeze something in, the winners of that will have a claim to play CCL in 2021. If they have MLS but no USOC, that will open up one extra slot but I expect that would go to someone else from 2020 and not just one leftover from this round.

Playing after the #MLSisBack Tournament. I've heard NYCFC wanting to play a game at West Point. If fans aren't allowed in the stadium, it would be even easier for NYCFC NYC based fans to understand be okay with. Play in Connecticut? Sure, nobody is allowed in the stadium anyway.

at this rate they can play in NJ/Conn/ Upstate if no one really can gonna go. and honestly if they do allow limited amount of people, many fans in the city wont go even if its in the bronx.

With no fans in attendance, it truly doesn't matter where they play. Find a patch of grass where you can hook up MLS-level infrastructure and just do it there.

What about the NYCFC return match of the Concacaf Champions League in Mexico?

no official cancellation but there were a few tweets ( in spanish) that they were thinking of trying to run the rest of it in the fall. i personally dont think it will happen unless they do some host city stuff and even then its tricky.
