I e-mailed my rep. today asking to send me necessary forms to opt. out of renewal. I’ve had 3 other e-mails from her but nothing in regards to my request.
I’m on the fence. It’s my first full year following the team and I find them kind of lovable. I find it unbelievable they sit in first at this point of the season.
I don’t, however, feel that valued as a season ticket holder and the idea of more seasons watching soccer in a baseball stadium isn’t that appealing. It seems inconceivable that CFG doesn’t have the funds to have gotten it done by season 5. Is it even possible a proper stadium could be built before another 5 is up?
It’s fun being a member but at the end of the day it’s the fans who show up to support the team that make the whole thing work. If a team wins a soccer game in an empty stadium is there a sound?

1. Opt out form: https://www.tfaforms.com/4756656

2. It’s not funds, it’s land availability.

3. Yes.

Maybe CFG doesn't want to invest in a 500m project for a team that is losing its appeal. Their other club Melbourne City draws under 10k in a 30k mixed use stadium. NYCFC & MLS might not like this set up, but CFG may be fine with it. The club knows it's a sucky set up. That's why it's a selection on the opt out form. So they can go to the mothership and say 'see we told you we need a stadium'

This is a depressing thread with many valid complaints. A little credit where credit is due:
  • Really appreciate the anti p*to chant video they have played at halftime the last couple games. I hope they continue to do so. I have noticed a significant reduction in the chant. This actually makes me feel better about renewing.
  • We're in 1st place and fun to watch. I feel totally spoiled this year with our home record. The people I go with have a tradition of getting post-game "victory softees" (Mr. Softee). We've gotten a ton of them this year. Makes for a very happy finish to a very happy night.
  • The atmosphere in section 136 is awesome every match.
Everyone has to decide where the balance lies for themselves. As for me, I'll be there again next year.

Exactly. The atmosphere is not as good because the crowds are thinner. That is a big problem.

This year, I have been able to use ticket trade in to get value for my season tickets - haven’t had to put any up for sale. That’s good.

The value for being a season ticket holder is down. Cityzens is a shadow of it’s former self. It needed to improve and got worse. Other benefits are receding. That is unacceptable.

I firmly believe they are working on a stadium, which will solve 3/4 of the problems. I also have always believed it was going to be really hard and take a while. I am not disappointed in where that stands. I think we will be in a new stadium by 2025, hopefully by 2023.

We are 2nd in the league. We regularly finish near the top now. We play attractive soccer. We have a great academy. 75% of the league would love to have those things.

I am willing to stick it out.

I opted out a few weeks ago. I rationalized it in my head and to my rep that I still love the team. That hasn’t changed one little bit. But I absolutely do not love the club. I’ll still go to as many games as I can next year, but not as a season ticket holder.

What is sad is that the team is in first place but the goodwill has gone.

I have seen my interest in the team tail off a bit this season. The lack of a stadium plan is probably a factor. I see every other club making moves, apart from NYCFC.

Maybe CGF are going the Apple route. Cant seem to get people to attend games, therefore charge the ones that do a higher price to make up for the shortfall in revenue.

This club had the potential to be the biggest in North America, however its opportunity to do so has probably gone by the wayside.

So after much hemming and hawing I decided to drop from 2 tickets to 1 ticket. It's probably the first step rational step toward dropping my tickets completely.

The main thing that kept me from dropping entirely was my year-long pursuit of a peanut-free suite / section for my son. My new rep has had some experience with this at his former job with MSG. He's also putting me in touch with someone at NYCFC finally higher than a member rep so we can continue the conversation. If I had dropped my plan entirely I think that would've ended any conversation about it.

I can also trade in games I can't go to and still grab an extra ticket for matches I want to take a family member to. It still keeps me in some sort of place in line for tickets in a future stadium. Plus, the monthly cost of a single ticket at roughly $40 is nothing in comparison to every other bill I have.

I've seen a lot of people talk about the peanut-free suite thing. Hopefully you can make some headway with that and it translates to the new stadium, whenever that becomes a reality.

I was thinking of doing a similar move. My rep is not responding. Am I locked into my current plan now that it’s the 16th?

I had the same feeling last year. The front office has become less transparent. Third party tickets are often cheaper than season tickets. Playing in YS doesn’t bother as much as the fact that there doesn’t seem to be any real progress or communication about getting out of YS. In short, they seem to take the STHs for granted and offer little value to them.

Prices rise, attendance falls and there seems to be a collective yawn coming from the club.
I’m just not sure they care that much. Without expending the money for a stadium, I’m not even sure they have to.

Is the club actually making money now? Would be interesting to see how our P&L compares to other teams.

check your account manager. mine says today (9/16) is the due date for the first installment. If you cancel by today, then you should be fine. if you wait til tomorrow, you'll have paid for 1 month and that 1 month payment is non-refundable. you'll have it in your account to be used toward game tickets in the future, but i have no idea if this is a pain in the ass to arrange since you'd have to go through a rep to use your credit (i think).

In case any of you were wondering, my rep more or less confirmed today that those of us who opted out shouldn't expect any notification from the team that they've processed the opt-out. I had emailed my rep because I still saw an invoice for 2020 in AccountManager this morning, and was concerned that I hadn't heard boo from the team since submitting the form 2 1/2 weeks ago. He said, essentially, yep, you're done -- the invoices should drop out of AccountManager tomorrow.

Wow ! It’s kind of depressing reading some of the posts. I have been out of the forum for almost a year. Had not realized how dire the situation looked.

I do agree that not having a marquee player has lessened interest on the team. And the 15 minute break goes so fast.

Currently what has angered me is that the last home game , the time was changed. I never got a notice or email ,I got to Ys at 4 pm and to my dismay , iam told the game was over.

Did anyone else had that experience?

Yeah, one of the ladies in my old section hasn't been to a game the whole year and brought her family of 4 for the original match time :(

Hi Yee! Great to hear from you. Tell your friend to call NYCFC. She may get , a free ticket . My rep is giving me a free ticket for next Wed August 25. My nephews are in school and the game is too late, If I am not able to get a friend to come . She can have it

I agree with some of your point of people loosing interest, I personally think that ther are several factors that afflicts the team! Not having a home, I guess in a way our beloved team is homeless,
Welcome to to the future of Homo.Sapiens

1 -Lack of a marquee player,
2 -New Yorkers are hard working people , family oriented, it’s very difficult for many to attend weekdays games,.
3 -Due to family commitment s, kids in school , mothers / fathers, get home to cook, parents and kids have to struggle with homework assignments, there is no time left to squeeze a sport game on weekdays

On a personal note aside ,however I have to state it
I detest Common Core. I feel for all parents that nightly have to struggle with that awful system of learning .I use to tutor kids, I don’t do it anymore
As a whole I see a world of darkness , illness , opium addiction , and of lot horrendous evils in the not so far future , I am very pessimistic for the future of Homo Sapiens .

Hi , I am just reading about a “peanut suite”, can you tell me what is that?
