This has literally happened every single season since the beginning lol

Most STH of other teams get nothing.
Should our bogey be what most other clubs do? Here’s what two other big city clubs do:

If every team in the league is not providing anything then I would not complain. But many teams do provide items that are consistently far better than what we get. This is lazy, pathetic, and arguably disrespectful. It is like throwing a penny at a street performer. Why bother? If other front offices are doing better, try to outdo them. Compete, damn it! Show us that we are worth more than this lousy shit.

I'm not even mad. Just disappointed. I've said in the past that I don't care much for swag and I'd rather not receive gift at all than a shitty one. IMO this year the gifts are solid. I won't use them because I'm very particular about apparel and accessories, but they're relatively smart.

To me, it's more the feel. In the past the box came in a box and was rather well designed. I've kept all of them. This time it's a beat up mailer with QR codes all over it. The stuff inside rattles around because there's nothing to keep it in a presentation that feels well thought out or meaningful. One of the most prominent items is a promo for a mediocre American car company that makes little sense for most of your fanbase and thusly demonstrates a lack of connection. The member card appears meaningless because no one cared to attach it to its lanyard.

Something that is supposed to be a symbol of gratitude is treated as an obligation. Nobody involved in the production of this spectacle appears to have experienced the joy of anticipation that this package would ideally evoke.

But it's also just a small part of the overall picture and there are plenty of other very positive signs, so ... Ehh

I guess it’s all a matter of opinion, but that shirt is beyond horrible. I would take our hat over that (unless the shirt came with the championships). And would anyone be happy with big bright NYCFC headphones like RB STH? Ugh. The problem is, I am not sure what would please a majority, as tastes and needs vary. Maybe we would have gotten a little closer to that if the box was impressive and usable, and the corporate gift card was for something iconic or useful for New Yorkers rather than the 1 STH who is buying a Mustang.

A choice would be nice. Let the STH pick from three options. And the options need to be stuff that’s remotely desirable.

I have three tix. Do I really need three hats? Or in past years three of the same scarves? I could see a blanket with them at this point.

I like that idea. I haven't used any of the scarves or any other contents (other than the tickets) up until this point (and I like the new hat), so a choice would have been useful. Yours is probably the best solution to countering differences in opinion (although, of course, folks would still complain about the choices). Put it in a cool box that you can use for something, add a small decent add-on like the wallet, throw in a NY specific gift card that New Yorkers would use, and you far exceed most/all other clubs (most who get nothing). I don't care so much and mostly just get excited that the box signals that the season is near (and given how late they usually are, very near), but if they are going to do it, can't hurt to please by doing it well.

Also don't like the Galaxy shirt, and why is it green? Our fanbase is hopelessly split just on the issue of whether dropping scarfs was good or bad. There does seem to be widespread disdain for the Ford coupon. For me, besides the fact that that I'm not planning to buy a car by November 31steth :D , the problem is my certainty that any car dealer will work overtime to get that $500 back from you somewhere, be it on financing, your trade-in, fees or whatever. I want a coupon that guarantees my next car buying experience won't suck: nobody will waste my time for hours, or lie, or try to change deal terms after we agree, or get me to accept delivery of a different car, or accept a "best possible" finance rate 4 points higher than the advertised offer.
ETA: all of those have happened, and I have bought just 4 cars in my life.

LAG had green in their original/inaugural kit. They rebranded and dropped the green for blue. Must’ve had boxes of blank shirts in the warehouse and decided this was the year to print/offload them.

It's free stuff. Yeah, I have liked some years better than others, but I'd feel like a dick if I complained about it.
I look at it from the perspective of a rewards program, where we are being recognized/appreciated for being season ticket members. We can agree that the cityzens points are useless because the items in the program have been generally bad. We have complained about that since the beginning. The free stuff, or rewards if you will, that we get in or packages are the same thing. They have been generally bad. We can complain about it because these items are, in many ways, reflect their level of appreciation. Again, if other teams are "rewarding" their members with better items, why is our front office not doing the same? That is the perspective I am looking at from.

In the past I feel like you would receive a pin and scarf for each season ticket. This year I only got one hat and one pin but I have two seats each match for the season. Not a huge deal but It’s fun for my daughter and I to each get a pin, hat...

They probably messed that up - I received 3x for my 3 tix. Contact them.

Although, do you have a full or partial plan - I wonder if that impacts it?

Rather than the Ford coupon, give a gift card from something more soccer related from a local sponsor - doesn’t have to be an NYCFC gift card. Like $10 at upper 90, or discounts near the stadium in the bronx, or something. $500 off a new car is tone deaf considering a) this is NY and a large population doesn’t even have and/or want a car and b) isn’t connected to the local community at all. Any team can give $500 for a Ford.

is there anyone really that is like “hmm I want a new car, but am not sure...WHAT? $500 towards a Ford? Heck with that Nissan!”
