2021 Roster Discussion

griezmann is basically saying he’s coming to mls to watch basketball and be anonymous. Seems like another Gonzalo Higuain situation, wonder if Griezmann will bring his cigarettes as well.

I know. He's def not coming to MLS to be advance his career. He just wants to have some fun and live out his dream of living in the states. I guess he'll be going to where ever his favorite NBA team is.

Higuain was at least 2+ years past a productive season when he showed up, so he wasn't exactly coming in with momentum. I think most of these guys craze some anonymity so that in itself would not be enough to worry me.

We're still looking to sign a senior DP 9 per Roberto Abramowitz and Glenn Crooks on Twitter Spaces.

What is Twitter Spaces and how would I find that comment from him?

Does senior mean veteran or just senior roster?

Twitter Spaces is that thing when people can do audio broadcasts. There's no record of the "call" or any tweet about it.

Roberto said the club is still looking to sign a senior DP (i.e. not young DP) striker.

So what do we think Thiago’s best position is?

clearly a winger.

Talles would be better as a #9 but serviceable as a winger once he's fit. Thiago is pure speed and willing to take people on, so he's a winger through and through. The great thing is he seems happy to use either foot, so he can play on either side.

I had Poku with better pace thoughts yesterday.

Yeah, he's not technical enough and good at maintaining possession to play in the middle. He needs space. I hope someone else stakes their claim for the winger spots because I would just love Thiago's pace coming off the bench against tired legs.

i think it depends on who we play against. a team with a high line, let thiago start and take advantage of it. if it's a deep block, then maybe use him as a sub cause we need more technical 1v1 players to break down the block. that being said, thiago seems more than willing to take players on 1v1, which is a benefit to breaking down the block as well. I would like to see him get more chemistry working with anton or gudi/malte whereas now he's more "give me space and let me run" kind of player. If he can work 1-2s with our wing backs and the #9, he'll deserve to start every game.

thats a hot take.
You could easily argue he’s our most talented player right now on skill alone.

How do you go from "$12m flops" to "most talented" in the course of one match? Or am I missing something

his $12m flop refers to talles. he's been high on thiago since thiago's debut goal. he's just upset ronny isn't starting them.
