2021 Schedule Thread

Of the 17 MLS Regular Season matches in 2021, how many will be played at Yankee Stadium?

Well, talked to my rep this morning. There's no global opt-out for 2021. You can opt out of the New Jersey matches and you'll get full credit but the Yankee Stadium ones they anticipate are going to full capacity with no opt-out. So I may drop back down to monthly payments and keep my seats (and keep my place in line for the brick, of course). So I'll have paid for the full 2020 with no matches, had it roll over to 2021 in full, and will now have to start paying for 2022 this week, all without having been to a match since 2019.

In other news, after I mildly complained about New Jersey being a two or possibly three hour commute home for me after a weekend night match and that I much preferred Citi Field because it was much easier to get to and actually had some good food he said that next season they're planning most matches at Yankee Stadium and maybe three or four at Citi Field with none at RBA. First I've heard of this but I heartily approve if true.

hope you get that in writing

Yeah, well, we'll see what the schedule looks like once February rolls around but I agree, there was no writing involved in the conversation.

Too early to start the 2022 Schedule thread?

Too early to start that thread. Traditionally, we've started that thread once the MLB schedules are posted.

This doesn’t bother me as much as the obvious lie that we won’t play there next season

where are you getting this from? It probably be the similar as this year in terms of amount of games.

my rep when I asked him point blank. And someone else here said they asked their rep as well.

ah you meant RBA, i figured it was already assumed that many more games will be played there in the coming years despite what emails or CEO says on the contrary.

I do wonder if Unimas would allow us to move the game to Friday night. I think that poster is right that it seems like the least likely scenario, but NYCFC should exhaust every option to stay at the Stadium, for the obvious reasons.

normally the friday MLS games are on TUDN not unimas.

Its gonna be a big if, leagues cup is that week as well. so potentially playing Saturday/ Tuesday/ Friday? :grimacing:

when my rep called me to get my updated credit card information, I asked. I wasn’t going to pay for RBA games. 2.5 hours on a weekday. 90 minutes on a perfect ride on the weekend. Especially if they’re not going to let you opt out like they did this year

for 2021 i understand frustration, but for 2022 you had a chance to opt out though and we got notice about it.

did we get notice about games being played at RBA in 2022? Last time I checked, our home stadium was in the Bronx.

more than likely it's because both montreal and we do not have a more happy home and have to make do with what the overlords decide for us.

as long as we beat CLB these next two times, i won't be too upset.

they said they will try to play games in the five boroughs if yankee stadium is not available. But didnt guarantee anything, so someone like you who has been following the team for years should know very well that leaves the door wide open for RBA.

None of the membership renewal stuff mentioned even the possibility of playing games in 2022 at RBA. Since this is the case, I would think they would also make any RBA games optional like they did this year. The club has shown a lot of good faith in these last 2 trying years, so I don't think they want to ruin any of that by forcing people to pay for RBA games they didn't know were coming.

Yes the way they say things always leaves the door open for RBA or even CT. but I think the club will probably make those games optional as a show of good faith. Obviously, just my theory and the club has disappointed us before. so we will see.
