A person was posting on facebook saying that the game will start from 9PM.
Is this a correct information?
I hope this is not.
I have to travel from Queens to Bronx and the public transportations are not good during weekends.
9PM is way too late for a Sunday game...
Does anyone have an idea of the time?

I believe that I read earlier on this forum that the game will most likely be either at 5pm or 7pm but don't remember exactly where. It's unlikely that they play a game at 9pm on the east coast.

NYCFCfan posted a team email.

It said either 5pm or 7:30pm. Directly underneath it said espn, fs1.

Based on the broadcast schedules all season, I took the leap to infer:

5pm on ESPN or 7:30 on FS1.

So, I'm thinking ESPN NYCFC for it's 5pm match and FS1 gets the Portland match for 7:30pm.

It makes too much sense on many levels. For the life of me, I just can't understand why they don't announce it already.

It's complete BS that they don't announce the time for this game. If it was a Friday or Saturday I wouldn't care too much, but a Sunday is a school night for families with kids.

A friend of mine and his daughter were interested in going to the game with me and my daughter. There were seats right behind mine available earlier in the week, but because there was no time announced they didn't want to get the tickets. If we ended up with the 7:30 time we wouldn't be home until close to 10:30. Now the seats are gone and I don't know if they're going to come if they can't sit next to or near us. That's two customers NYCFC just lost.

Stupid shit like this constantly annoys me about this league.

I think it’s the networks waiting to decide which match they want. I don’t know if FS1 or ESPN gets 1st pick.

You think they wait till the outcome of the first leg? That's just dumb shit.

I think that's their plan.

What's worse is that ESPN has the start time for the 1st game of the East conference finals set for 8pm for a midweek game and the 2nd leg for 10pm, also a midweek match.

I totally agree with you! Since Yankees is not playing the world series, they should have a clear idea of what time they can start the game. In order to make MLS & NYCFC big, they really have to take care of those young kids who are interested in seeing the game lively. I really don't get the point of why they are still holding the time "TBD". They are not aware of people who are also willingly spending extra money to buy those expensive tickets. I feel like It's almost disrespectful for the fans.

Sorry if I sound too angry about this. I am also having my friends coming over to the game (bought 4 extra tickets). But worried that the game starts too late for them to come out.

It's like this in every sport, even football. The NHL gives fans less than three days' notice, sometimes, about start times late in a playoff round. This has almost nothing to do with MLS and everything to do with the TV networks, who are maximizing their ratings by putting the most interesting games at the times when the most people are watching. That's why they're waiting for the end of Leg 1 -- if one series looks like a blowout, they're not going to pick that game. So if ESPN gets first pick, they're taking the series that looks like it will give the best drama.

Thanks for the info! There is always this kind of problem (tv network + money) involved...

We all know TV networks trump the fans that actually show up to support their team, however, this league still needs to grow their fanbase and that happens when you bring people to actual games. This game should be played at 5pm.

There's a mistake there. This is what's on the MLSsoccer.com page.

The West Leg 2 is on November 30 at 10 PM ET which is more appropriate (7 PM PT).

A few days ago I was sent an email offering a deal of sorts on a Private Suite for this game. They know I'm an attorney and they hope I can get my firm to buy it to entertain guests, clients, etc. It's not going to happen for various reasons including that the nature of our practice makes this sort of thing less useful than it is for many other firms.

BUT, it's also ridiculous to ask firms to commit to a minimum $4,800 spend on a playoff suite when nobody even knows what time it will be. I don't blame the sales staff. They have to work under these limitations. But it's still crazy.

All that says for the East is 8pm for Leg 1 (still later than it should be if most people get off work at 6pm) and a TBD for Leg 2. 10pm wasn’t ruled out with that TBD.

Not if you want to pregame.

Yeah, but an earlier poster was saying the 11/30, 10PM time was for the East.
I don’t need two hours to pregame on a weeknight. And my wife won’t want to get home at 11pm, or after if the trains are slow.

I realize the league and networks want to maximize the viewership on the west coast since they’re 3 hours behind, making the start at 5pm when some do get out of work, but it’s obnoxious to subject the ticket holders to a late start during the week.
