Alex Ring Traded to Austin FC

Parks versus Ring is the right debate. Parks is a significantly better player going forward than Ring. Ring brings much more defensive bite.

But we got a 1.25 m offer for Ring. And he’s older and injured. So he went.

Claudio Reyna was interviewed on ExtraTime just after the news broke. "A player who can play as a six, as an eight -- he won't be playing as a left winger for us, that's for sure."

I’m happy to see that I’m not the only other weirdo who thinks Ring will come back to the organization

I will miss Alex even though I've been critical of his passing and what I perceive as undisciplined pointless fouls. It's kind of hard to think of NYCFC without Mr. Ring.
I'm having a hard time with figuring out Parks. At times I'm a believer and other times I think he just doesn't have "it". Sometimes he seems a little lost. Can we expect significant elevation in Keatons game?
In the limited time we’ve seen Cacha, the passing looks pretty good but against Tigres he seemed too easily bullied. He could stand to have a little more Alex intensity in him. The skills seem there, I hope the toughness and vision emerge.

I totally think he might. He's said many times how much he and his wife love NYC. I've never been to Austin, but once you fall in love with NYC, it's difficult to replace it with any other city.

totally agree about parks and acevedo. Parks has games where he is fantastic and others where he simply looks tired and unmotivated. Add to that the handful of BAD giveaways that have lead to goals against us or frantic defense and it's hard to have 100% trust in him. I do think he's a good player for us, but I don't think he's the kind of player who changes a game in a way that we desperately need.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Acevedo got owned most of the time vs Tigres. He gave the ball up a lot when trying to hold onto it or dribble and wasn't much of an enforcer when it came to making defensive tackles (something we REALLY missed vs Tigres since Medina was nowhere to be seen as the supposed other 6). He is very young, so I hope he learns to toughen up and be stronger on the ball.
