Alleged Sexual Harassment at NYCFC

After the Washington Post story that came out about the Washington football team, there have been several online accounts of women coming forward about sexual harassment in sports. Now there’s one about NYCFC. I have no reason not to believe it.

Nah I think they can, but they need to embrace it head on and accept the mistake, and formally apologize and acknowledge this happened. The problem is this club just tries to sweep all its stupidity under the rug and tries to weasel out of everything. Can’t do that with this.

I’m thinking about writing to at least my ticket rep demanding that they acknowledge this case. Does anyone have contact information of senior FO folks at NYCFC, where maybe a collective letter can be sent?

i know vancouver went/is going thru something similar, but I think it was related to their academy, but i rarely see anything of an uproar about it. Then again i guess its becasue its canadian team and no one cares about vancouver

I wonder if this had any impact on him not being renewed and appearing to leave on bad terms. Any impact on (our ex-gm's) departure?

If these allegations are true and led to a house cleaning, i think that would make me feel better about this club. However, I doubt it, and yes I do feel guilty bringing (our ex-gm) into this theory.

Edited to clarify: I'm not doubting the allegations, but the idea that the club would react aggressively.

i think CFG would clean house if needed. They already have bad history with human rights issues back home and if the CFG teams are being used to “whitewash” all that then they would take action here.

Before this goes out of control, we need to understand a few things. I don't expect anyone to know these answers but it will be answered if an investigation by NYCFC, CFG, outside law firm is conducted. Furthermore, this will likely not get the media attention of the NFL or NBA because it's still MLS. That being said, that doesn't mean it should be pushed under the rug. If there was any wrongdoing, it should be acknowledged.

First, this seems to have taken place between player(s) and staff. This isn't what has been reported recently in Washington NFL team of front office harassment.

1) Who was committing the harassment?

2) What type of harassment was being committed?

3) How long did the harassment last?

4) Who knew of the harassment?

5) Was the harassment reported? Were there protocols to report such harassment?

The individual in question, from social media, appears to have worked at NYCFC from the 2018 to 2019 season. The individual only began going public about the matter until after the 2019 season.

As for cleaning house, we'll see if MLS puts down any actions based on the gravity of any findings. But the head coach during that period is gone. The sporting director from that period is gone. Did Brad Sims know? He's the only person that's still in a senior position that's still around.

She doesn’t make it seem like it was just the players. This sounds systemic. Last horse I’m backing in this is the NYCFC front office.

Exactly, sounds like the bosses basically being ok with their star investment being touchy-feely with an intern, cause who cares about the intern. Can easily see this culture being the case with a foreign sports FO

This can get very complicated without knowing all the information and about NYCFC/MLS/CFG HR polices. The State of New York State requires harassment and bystander training for employees of companies in the state. I know I've gone through a number of hours of this over my young career. Does the staff at CFA receive this training as well? Are some of the staff employees of NYCFC, Man City, CFG? The players aren't employees of NYCFC, but MLS.

Additionally, I would like to say that the individual in question should be heard and the matter should be investigated if there is merit to the individual's claims. But I am not ready to acknowledge them as facts yet. I am always willing to hear, but never willing to rush to judgement.

Also, Mkdaman1818 Mkdaman1818 I had to change the title. Potential refers to that it will take place in the future. Alleged refers to it being said, without proof, to have taken place. I will update the title as the story develops.

She filed a complaint with the police and it didn't go well. "Credentials" implies media but idk

Credentials implies anyone credentialed for Yankee Stadium that isn't a fan with a ticket. Could be MLS/PRO/NYCFC/Yankees/Media. The coaches and players have credentials, so do the referees, as do the front office personnel.

Fine by me

Do you have any contacts within the nycfc front office that you think we should contact, to ask for them to investigate? Feels like this was swept under the rug

Swept under the rug, business as usual, bystander effect, who knows? If you would like to contact anyone within the front office regarding any matter it's firstname.lastname@nycfc.com; this is public knowledge based on ticket rep emails.

Here is the front office roster with names and titles: https://www.nycfc.com/team/staff; this is public knowledge.

Based on tweets I’ve seen from her I don’t think anyone felt they were doing anything wrong. She tweeted this.
So this is likely going to come as a surprise to anyone involved.
