Alleged Sexual Harassment at NYCFC

That’s typical boys club bullshit though. You can argue the redskins front office guys thought the same way
Yeah I’m not arguing against her. I just don’t see those people releasing statements anytime soon because they’re likely just as surprised as us.

now that it's out and there's attention on the matter, the club needs to acknowledge it and start an investigation with somewhat regular updates on its progress.

i am glad she spoke out, as should anyone who is a victim of harassment or discrimination or worse, but we cannot take her word for it just because she posted on social media about it. hence the investigation. the longer the club waits, the worse it looks and the less likely people will be "ok" with whatever comes of the investigation. at this point, i'd be surprised if the club FO hasn't heard anything about this. If they haven't, they definitely have the wrong people working for them.

Hopefully, Justice will prevail in the end.

Yeah I’ve already sent my rep an email about it, so they can’t claim they’re blind to it. Smartest thing would them acknowledging it but let’s see

What I think will happen will be an internal investigation and strengthening on internal reporting policies. But we likely won't hear anything about it, at least with regular updates, because it's a private company and it's a not a criminal or civil case at the moment.

It would be foolish not to at least publicly state they’re conducting an internal investigation, no?

Just got a call from my rep about this after emailing him. Everyone at the club has been made aware of this issue (including their legal team), and they’re working through this. Legally they aren’t sure what they are going to do just yet, but they do say they’re aware and working on it, especially the legal and communication teams. I’m expecting some sort of public statement.

I just don't understand why it's so hard to treat people the right way. Whether you're black, white, female, male, hispanic, asian, whatever. Treat others how you want to be treated. Why is this so hard?
When people start their careers they learn everything from their bosses and higher-ups. If they make inappropriate jokes and comments, you laugh and go along with it, and thats the attitude you think you need to get ahead. Now it’s no longer the case and the opposite is happening... it just took 100 years to get here.

If it was that easy, we wouldn't need court, laws, etc.

if it were truly that easy, it wouldn't be a problem since history began...

David Villa was a global celebrity and had been for years, and may, like many such people, feel entitled to behave like that, and invincible. Some people had gaps in their upbringing as far as civility, respect, etc., and that combination with celebrity and groupie-like fans leads to these sorts of situations. That's what I'm thinking. And others in the room go along with it, because it's much easier than standing up to it. Especially someone you admire.

I hope the club takes this very seriously because that behavior has no place in a professional setting. Or any setting.

It can also be difference in culture, if he’s used to acting a certain way in Europe vs in America, and it’s more accepted by people in one place vs another. This is where basic harassment and appropriation training comes in handy, especially for a company as global as CFG

I reached out as well -- crickets.

I would expect it to be some time before we hear anything due to all the legal implications that would be involved. She may have set herself up for libel as well with the platform she decided to use. In business days, it hasn't been long with their offices closed on the weekends.

(Looks like I may have to change my avatar.)

At my job I’m in a ‘leadership’ position but I’m also in no position to speak on behalf of my company. I’ve been chewed out plenty of times about things which I have zero control over. Especially now with the pandemic there are decisions made by corporate which we have to abide by and we’re given statements to then give customers if they complain. Don’t expect someone who manages your seats to speak on a very serious sexual assault matter involving someone who no longer even works for the club. It really irks me how often customer facing employees are talked down to by people who actually expect them to make decisions for a corporation.

To me, it's more important for the club reps (even ticketing) to know that you're aware of these things. We're a big part of revenue. STHs reaching out and telling the club to address the situation will move this forward faster than everyone sitting on their hands. But I agree, expecting anything immediately from a rep would be naive. I think most just want the club to know they know this is out there with hopes of getting them to act on it to keep people happy. Probably the least we can do.

It wasn't my ticket rep I reached out to and it wasn't a rude email. Not sure why you're making assumptions that I went full Karen on someone that helped me with the ticket selection website.

As someone in a 'leadership' position who deals with customers, you'd think you'd appreciate a reasonable, polite email from a consumer concerned about the product or service you're providing.

I’m not assuming you did anything. The reason you received crickets in response is likely because of what I said above. They shouldn’t be and we’re likely told not to comment on the matter while a statement is prepared.

Yeah totally agree with this. You can’t expect a rep to give you anything other than a pre packaged lawyer approved script.

All the power to you for raising it with your rep but if you’re really that upset about it then ask them to cancel your membership. That would garner a quicker response, I’m sure.
