Even though we had more possession in the second half I think Atlanta controlled the game.
I missed the first half but we struggled mightily to find any kind of space in the final third.
We need to figure out how to create space and chances. In the last 5 minutes we were barely able to get the ball past midfield. We’re too static in attack, we depend on the player on the ball to create something.
The decision making in the final third is troubling. I’m sorry but Tinnerholm can go and I would bar an eye. The guy can’t cross/pass to save his life.
I don’t think this team can get it done.

I'll be willing to eat crow but I also don't think we can pull it off. This team hasn't shown the resilience fight and spirit to recover in adversity.

If we can somehow score first in Atlanta then we have a shot.

But I certainly am not holding my breath

We’ll have to play more open and will likely get picked apart on counters. They tried today but our small field makes that harder.

Do I think we can score one on the road and take this to a penalty shootout? Yes.

Do I think we can somehow play to a 2-1 victory and win? Not really.

But I am glad we didn’t fall 4-0 like the last couple years...

3 games in 7 days took its toll. Everyone seemed a step or two off. Nobody had a terrible match, but nobody was at their best.
Hopefully on equal rest, under pressure, we step up. I absolutely think we can score two goals.

I actually agree here, the problem is not conceding more than 1. I think with that home field advantage, Atlanta will come out gunning.

Zero shots on goal. Wow. And maxi was completely taken out of the match pushed to the left side.

That said, no way Villa committed a foul when the ATL player charged into his space and put his head down. Should have been a tying goal there.

Also no idea how #5 Pirez was still in the game. He committed about 4 yellow card worthy fouls on top of an elbow he delivered on a set piece. He’s one of the dirtiest players in the entire league and gets away with it every match.

Dome flat out got out coached. He had no counterpunch for ATL going 5 at the back with RedHead dropping to play CB(RB when they were 4atb). Berget was an expected move but nothing else was done.

Villalba is as big of a whiner as Martinez. Between those two with their attitudes, and Barco’s indescretions, that’s got to be a charged locker room. Villalba also looked hurt. Maybe he’ll not be able to go next weekend along with Almiron..... not holding my breath.....

Thought Mata had a bad match. Also, if he would have scored that early goal it would have changed everything

I agree nothing was that much different than what we saw Sunday, Atlanta is just way better than Philly and a couple of guys regressed to their old habits. Mata and Herrera had a number of bad passes as we have seen each do in the past. Ring and Herrera killed it on D but never found the flow in offense. Atlanta also had a good game plan as they took away both Maxi and Villa for most of the match while letting us try to run the flanks with Sweat and Mata. Sweat missed quality Villa runs so many times as he tried to dribble through people with his head down. I don't know what is worse, Sweat continually missing the open pass because he dribbles with his head down or Mata giving the ball away by continuously trying to force it through the defense when nothings there. Hopefully we can find some adjustments for the next one. Thankfully it was only 1-0.

Also, based on the bench the Medina sub should have been Castallanos, Medina is way way too soft for the way that game was going. Next game Medina shouldn't even make the bench, he moves away from even the thought of contact on 50/50 balls. Give his spot to Lewis, both Lewis and Castallanos are 100 times stronger than Medina, both would have been up for the physicality of that game. Medina was not and got pushed around like a rag doll.

Speaking of people missing passes, I can’t count how many times Berget make a run behind the defense and the ball carrier (Tinny, Chanot, Isi) didn’t play the through ball to him - he had Pirez beaten and just needed a ball to run on to, but instead they’d hold it and force it inside.

Tinny’s Crossing efficiency has regressed to the mathematical equivalent of approaching zero. It’s painful to see him turn the corner and just give it away.

I agree I should have called that side out as well, Atlanta gave us both flanks and both sides were careless with the ball. Tinny bombs blind crosses in without even a glance to see where our guys are. The Berget point is well taken too, other than Villa we've never had a player that runs the channels as well as Berget does. Everyone shits on him because he doesn't score while ignoring the fact that no one feeds him. The guy's work ethic is off the charts, he never stops making runs even when he doesn't get a pass for 10-15min stretches at a time.

Bit disappointing.

Doesn't help that we play on a potato field.

What the hell was that performance? Did anyone play well in attack? Forget about stringing passes together, we couldn't even complete one pass.

That was pitiful. Abysmal. No shots on goal in a home playoff game? Sure, Atlanta played well. But we played like crap. I kept waiting for that 2-0 backbreaker, because this game was screaming for that.

Listen, it's doable in Atlanta, but this team has given us no reason to believe it CAN happen. Will be a major, major upset if they're able to pull it off. Stranger things have happened, but it would be quite a shock.

1) Lack of third sub was dumb.
2) Same lineup? is he crazy?? after two games in one week he changes nothing.
3) As much as we sucked on offense, our defense (Aside from sweat) killed it and snuffed out a LOT of chances, save those two where they got clear and somehow Chanot still managed to get back.
4) I have almost 0 hope for Sunday. I won't be watching because I have another event that day, but I hope I will return to a pleasant surprise.
5) *sigh*

That was a clear yellow card on Remedi when he pulled down Maxi and he was already on a yellow.

Martinez flying into Villa when he was attempting a bike was also not a foul on Villa.

Change those two decisions and things look a lot differently.
