Atlanta - Postmatch - Eastern Conference Semifinals Leg 2

Game over for another season A lot of highs to begin with then everything slowly went downhill with not much else to shout about Atlanta are the best team in the country and have one of the most impressive stadiums you’ll likely see

If you would have told me on June 11, when Dome was hired, that we'd be sitting here tonight, I'd have thought you were crazy.

This was one of the best teams in MLS -- maybe the best team in MLS - under Patrick Vieira. Dome broke them.

The hope was that we'd be ready for the playoffs, that Dome's half of the season was all in preparation for the playoffs. Well, we sucked in the playoffs. Those two Philly games were a mirage. We could have beaten Atlanta -- this series should have been much closer. We have the personnel. This was the best team we've ever had, and the numbers were no better t han they were last year. The second half of the season was a joke.

I don't think Dome will be fired this offseason, but I'm really not convinced he deserves to stay. At the very least, he should have a short leash next season. Because the job he did in taking the 2nd-best team in MLS into a .500 outfit the rest of the way while crashing out in the conference semis again ... this wasn't good enough.

The players he brought in, too, do not give me confidence in him. Amagat w as atrocious, and Castellanos, while he has some good skills, came on in the 2nd half and took a giant dump all over the field tonight. Dome's players he brought in do not give me confidence in his abilities, and the coaching job he did does not give me confidence either.

I stupidly got my hopes up after Chanot scored and they came out looking great in the second half. And then it just all fell apart. But damn, if Taty puts in that shot, how different does the rest of the game go?

Preach. Especially with all the best talent interested in MLS looking to go to LAFC or Miami before they come to us. Hell, they are going to Atlanta first too. Villa is leaving and we’re a 2nd tier MLS outfit with Uber wealthy ownership unwilling to spend money on us because we’re just a second thought to their real focus in Europe. WTF did I sign up for 5 years ago?

Dome was out of his depth coaching in MLS - he’s a fraud. He left Berget and Lewis off the 18 and made a single sub in the pivotal match that would see us off until 2019. His roster management was crap. His nepotism for Amagat was nauseating. Had Herrera not come back we’d have been bounced by Philly. Just dump him, and Reyna, and bring in new leadership to change the attitude of the club which is mentally soft and unable to rise for the big match.

If I thought Villa leaving was weak, this incomprehensibly weak.

I'm sorry, Dome. You took a Supporters' Shield-winning team and killed them. Killed them. Maybe it's not such an offensive thing to have a reporter ask you why a certain guy didn't play.

And by the way, it's not questioning you, it's asking for your explanation so fans understand it. I've lost complete faith in Dome.

I wonder if we had a GM with balls we could get CFG to open up their pocketbook a bit more.

Atlanta second goal went from being a useless free kick into the box to a scoring opportunity. Geiger gave them 3-5 yards at least.

We should have had 10 - 15 minutes of extra time but that's never gonna happen. PRO needs to do something about timewasting because it turns off viewers which means less ka ching which means it stunts our growth as a league. When all else fails, hit the bottom line.

I was excited about the second half from a tactical perspective. We lacked the cohesion and / or talent to put it together in the 18 but the way we were able to keep the ball and keep it in their half was encouraging. A little tighter on the line (Taty) and we are still on course to go 2-2 with all to play for.

I'm actually excited about next season at this point. If we can get Villa on a sub-DP contract, get a DP level winger or #10, and replace LB we will wipe the floor with 2018 Atlanta. The question is what 2019 Atlanta looks like. And what 2019 PRO looks like .

What gives you the idea we're a good team right now? We were exactly .500 since Dome arrived. If Dome is the coach next year, I'm not sure I trust us making the playoffs.
