Second leg of a 3 game road trip.
Doesn't get easier with an away trip to DC. Another must win. DC has been falling every week and one of the teams we need to count on losing out to give us a slim chance of getting in.

Game day - 10/02 Away
Broadcast - Uninas and 970 AM

Dated August 13:

"When the match was over and Bill Hamid (who I will admit is one of the top three keepers in the league) was walking down the tunnel I said to him, "Three goals man, what was that?" He replied without looking at me, "First Place!" LOL!"

Bill Hamid, you're not in first place anymore...

Thank god we have wingert back for this one, Angelino sucks and killed us last game. Thank god we have grabavoy too to flop all over the field and stand at the corner of the 18 with the ball having no clue what to do.

Jacobson I am willing to give a pass on since he is obviously in there strictly for set pieces. Just sucks he had to be stuck into the middle of the field. Priority for me would be a tall center back that can dominate set pieces so we can lose aj.

Right call or not, Angelino has two PK calls in the last two games. The numbers are going against him more and more.

Everyone on earth knows that wasn't a penalty, and he's also got two assists. World class crosses.
He was much better defensively this game. There were multiple plays where he was the deepest man back on a Vancouver counter, often supported by just one other guy. I am guessing, and only guessing, that the coaches told him he was starting only because of Wingert's suspension and he needed to improve his defensive posture. I think he earned next week's start at least.
On the other hand, maybe the penalty call, which was absurd, was karma for the hideous back pass he made that led to an open goal hit-the-post doink by SJ last week.

Karmic point there

We get Wingert back from suspension for this game.

DC United will be missing Connor Doyle and Steve Birnbaum - both suspended for Yellow Card Accumulation. Birnbaum has started 18 of the last 19 for DC in central defense. Doyle has played on-and-off for DC, including starting in our game against them last month on the left wing.

we are behind DC by 8, assume we beat them, still hard to see we can catch up...but I am excited about the next season. Hope we get some good signings and find a nice partner for David Villa up front, tidy up our defense a bit, and maybe upgrade our goalie, coach and stadium in that order

They have 45 points with 3 games left including ours. If we win out and they lose out we're in.

Can you take a look at the numbers for the scenario if we win out and they manage to get one tie. who's tie breaker advantage so far?

Again... he's 18 years old and "light in the pants" for MLS. Due to necessity, he was played out of position again and those deep runs in the box require that you muscle up on the attacker. In this specific case, he was trying to defend Kendall Waston... a CB who's fucking 6'5" and 215 lbs. First and foremost, it wasn't a foul. Even if it was, I'm of the mind that I generally commend the kid for playing aggressively.

We would go into the playoffs if that happened.
First tie breaker is wins. We would have the same amount at 13.
Then goal differential. They're currently at -2, we're at -5... If we win out we'd be at least -2 they would be at best -4.

Thank you buddy for taking the time...I have been too busy and too lazy lately

I gotta agree with you here. He also assisted on that first goal. His agility came in handy for us. I think we always talk about his flaws but I see the other side of the coin. He's quick and can control the ball well enough. Does he make mistakes, sure... But he's not even old enough to buy a drink yet. Imagine where he'll be in 3 to 5 years with proper training. One things for sure... That kid needs to hit the weights if he's got to D up on heavy weights like Waston.

Yeah, he's just been put in bad positions. He's an academy "kid" that is going to be a top quality player in 2 years, let alone 3-5. I expect he'll be dominating somewhere in that time frame. I just hope we can keep him one more season at minimum.
