New York City FC at DC United
Audi Field
Sunday, October 21 3 PM
YES, WNYE 91.5 FM, WADO 1280 AM

The game before Decision Day.

DCU will play three games while NYCFC is sitting on the sidelines for the next three weeks.

While NYCFC will come off a 21 day rest (really??) DCU will be at the end of playing three games in eight days.

DC will have three games to perfect their form. NYCFC will have 21 days to tinker and confuse the shit out of our players.

Somebody send Dome on a three week scouting trip to South America so he can’t Fck the team up any more in practice.

I just don't get why we don't set a couple friendlies with some lower division clubs so we can keep our form. Oh right because that would make too much sense.

Anyone here a member of TR that is going to this match? I'm trying to get seats for their bus (two seats) but i need to a be a TR member, or have a TR member buy me seats.
Or is it just worth it to pay the TR member price? (I'm probably just gonna do the latter bc it's only $30 lol)

Join TR. Honestly, the $30 pays for itself over the course of the year. You get a scarf. You get first access to away match tickets and bus trips. It's a fun group of people.

Thanks for the advice, I actually was in contact with the TR directly and ended up sorting out the situation. Will join TR next year, but idt it's worth it for the remainder of 2018. Will do that instead of 2019 ST. :)

What makes you say that the wild card game would be on October 31st and not November 1st? Im just curious because i have some friends who could make the November game and not Halloween and its always nice to have preparations in place as early as possible.

Good question. Here are my four inconclusive answers:

(1) I talked to somebody who should know and they thought it was going to be October 31.

(2) If the order of the words here gives us any clues, it points toward either 3 vs. 6 or Eastern Conference games coming first:

(3) In 2016 and 2017 the 3 vs. 6 games came first. (But in 2015 the 4 vs. 5 games did!)

(4) It sort of makes sense for 3 vs. 6 to come first because playoff structures typically seek to advantage the highest-seeded teams and an extra day of rest before the semifinals is an advantage. On the other hand, one less day of rest between the last round of the regular season and the knockout game is a disadvantage, so who knows. The playoff schedule is just as baffling as the regular season schedule.

The dates are going to fall whenever the TV broadcaster(s) want them to fall. Hopefully that will be Nov 1, because I can't make Halloween.

3/6 is played first because whoever wins that game knows exactly who they play next. If they played 4/5 first, you'd have that winning team waiting an extra day to find out who they play based on the 3/6 game. Plus, it gives some advantage to the 3 seed with that extra day of rest between the Knockout and the 1st Leg of the Conference Semifinal. And also allows teams to better schedule their flights/hotels.

All the people who can't go on Halloween now secretly hoping that NYCFC threads the needle to drop to 4th but remain above 5th.
