You’re fine. It rains just about every day this time of year between 12-6.
They’re expecting a low to develop into a tropical depression by Thursday. It won’t impact Florida directly as it’s pushing South West.

It’s about the weather in New York that’s the concern. But I’m glad to hear there won’t be a problem locally.

Interesting report. I see nothing on the US Soccer website or on MLS regarding a draw, nor announcements regarding the other potential matchup sites. From this I infer that NYCFC and the USOC came to an agreement that we simply defer to Atlanta and MB Stadium because we don't have a suitable location for that game. Whereas it's less ridiculous for us to host St. Louis in Queens or for Orlando to host Atlanta.

Yep. Yankee Stadium is open on August 6, but that would be two evenings after the Yankees have a game against the Red Sox, so not the usual time to turn the stadium around. Plus, we play Houston on August 8, so there is no ability to push the game to August 7 to allow us to host.

In reality, what they should do is move the game to another week. As it stands, we would be playing 4 games in 9 days, including two at Atlanta.

Sat, Aug 3 - at RSL
Tue, Aug 6 - at ATL (USOC)
Thu, Aug 8 - HOU
Sun, Aug 11 - at ATL

I'm dumb, it's not looking to be true:

Aug. 6^
New York City FC (MLS) vs. Atlanta United FC (MLS)
7:30 p.m. ET
Belson Stadium (St. John’s Univ.); Jamaica, N.Y.

-or-

Aug. 6^
Atlanta United FC (MLS) vs. New York City FC (MLS)
7:30 p.m. ET
Mercedes-Benz Stadium; Atlanta, Ga.

^ Date determined as a result of New York City FC scheduled for a league game Aug. 8

But it looks like we'd go back to queens for the Semis if we get the draw.

The last two weeks of July are fairly open for both teams - although we could only host the first of those two weeks.

The last week of August is also open for both teams, and we could host then too.

Note that the second week of August (one week late) would have been open, but Atlanta is playing in the fucking made-for-TV bullshit Campeones Cup that week.

Note that the finals aren't until 9/26.

ETA: The finals are now scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday, August 27 or 28. Last year, they were on Sep 26.

If they fucking make us play 4 games in a week instead of moving the week, I think we should just throw the U-19 team out there. Fuck them.

I just went into my Account Manager for an unrelated reason. I can buy tickets to a US Open Cup game at Belson Stadium on Tuesday, July 23rd against "TBD". Not sure if that means anything, but it would be a more reasonable date. Both teams play the prior weekend (NYC on Sat & ATL on Sun), and both teams play 3 days later on Friday.

EPL moves games all the time for teams in cup competitions so that a team at most has 3 game/week.

This would be so Mickey Mouse if MLS sticks it to us to play 4 games/9 day’s with 3 on the road sandwiched around a single home match. Even charter flights don’t alleviate that jet lag and dead legs.

Okay, back to the matter at hand. A game tonight that I am maybe not quite as crazy about winning.

Not sure I have any changes to this lineup. Maybe replace Ring with either Sweat if we have 3 centerbacks or Bedoya or Haak otherwise. Maybe Taty for Medina.

Let’s focus on winning this one first, but if we should we win there will be a “draw” to determine who hosts the semifinals and priority of hosting for the finals.

I’m sure US Soccer and the people tasked with handling the draw will obviously be fair and balanced regarding two potential hosts where one could sell 2,000 and another to sell 70,000.

It’s fucking rigged!
