A by-the-numbers look at the match from Toronto:

5 of Pozuelo's 15 MLS goals are against NYC.
Toronto has more PK attempts (9) and PK goals (7) against NYC in 5 years than against any other team in 13.
NYC has only won 2 of the last 11 games.

yea - definitely our nemesis second only to the red bulls.

pozuelo is going to be up for this game and we'll have to contain him for sure. jozy is gonna be jozy and with no chanot, he's going to body up ibby and callens and there's definitely going to be another pk called at some point. it's almost a given when we play TFC and jozy is in the lineup.

not to mention, our last trip to the great white north, we got pummeled in toronto 4-0 early in the season. hopefully, those memories won't be interfering with our game this time around. i'd be happy to leave with a draw to be honest. but i would love it if we crushed them. i just don't see that happening. especially if ronny plays a slightly weakened lineup to prepare for CCL.

Is Ibby a go? I was assuming he had a pretty bad knock to ask to come out of the Columbus game.

From Ronny's preview, it sound like Gudi is the only one still injured and not ready to go. So, I assume Ibby will be ready to go. Otherwise, we do have depth in the form of Sands as CB or even bringing in Gray if we are really hurting for a CB and want to utilize Sands and Ring more in the midfield.

toronto is NYCFC’s bogey team. Yikes.

I think I’d prefer to see Jimmy in at CB and bring in Keaton to play the double-pivot with Ring. I just feel like Jimmy is more likely to play Jozy smart. Also, Keaton had a bad case of the yips against Toronto in the Conference SF last year and an opportunity to put that behind him might do him good.

I’m also a little worried that Vanney is gonna school Deila.

I also trust sands more than seb with the ball at his feet to distribute out of the back. Sands can also cheat forward, same as Callens. Let’s us be more dynamic and keeps their D guessing who might come out.

This is what I would like to see as well. Knowing Jozy, he's going to body up both of them. I think Sands can take it, but I also think his inexperience will get him in trouble here. Especially since Jozy is notorious for flopping and getting the calls. Taty needs to learn from him.

I'm definitely not suggesting that Ibby is better than Chanot, but I don't think Jozy will be able to more easily body up Ibby (6'2" 187lbs) than Chanot (6'1" 179lbs).

While I agree with you on paper that Ibby might be better to body Jozy, I vaguely remember in one of the Toronto games last year, Joey drawing a foul off of Ibby and then scoring the eventual penalty. Ibby's look of anguish at getting called for the foul is quite memoriable. Hes just less positionally sound than Chanot.
