If MTL is still without Piatti we should win if we think our team has the sum of talent to at least challenge the best in the league or to be in the conversation. Unless we are really decimated by injuries. I mean, MTL is the same team that was beaten 7-1 by SKC and they have very little talent outside of Piatti. They have been doing fine playing youngsters, defending in a low block, countering, and being lucky. If the likes of MTL are the kind of team we think is going to beat us easily, while missing their only remarkable player, just because they are at home, then it's going to be an awfully long season.

For me the table in the East means nothing at this stage, but if the team doesn't trend up to dominate a Piatti-less MTL like we dominated a much better DC, then there's no point in watching. I will continue to watch because none of us is sane, but it would be really disheartening. I think we clearly deserved a win at MIN, and that was fine because they are a clearly inferior team squad-wise and their best player was not 100%. If the teams we can feel about are only COL, Cincy and MIN, it's sad.
What’s the basis of assuming our talent has the basis to win/challenge the best in the league? We’ve won like 6 matches in the last 25ish. Yes, we won two matches recently, and they’re slightly more recent than the 4-0 humiliation from Toronto, but call me crazy to say that our two wins are nowhere near impressive enough to start claiming we should be winning particular matches against teams above us in the standings. We are still a massive work in progress (that’s generous) and we’re missing key players. This match has a big L written all over it.

I watched the MTL-CHI game. MTL opened up their game because they are at home and want to put on a show and then couldn't generate any chances against a weak CHI team. The goal they scored was pretty flukey and that was about their only good chance in the game. If MTL (without Piatti) is the best in the league we are going to win the conference for sure. They have gotten some good results they probably shouldn't and we have dropped points we shouldn't but that will even out over the season.

I am way more worried about Atlanta than Montreal even though we are above them in the standings.

I tend to agree, and that's why I posted that opinion. I follow the MLS out of passion and loyalty to our squad, but many teams and matches are cringe-worthy regardless of coaching. I refuse to entertain that a coach can be so extraordinarily bad that it would tank a talented team unless he's also perverse and poisons the locker room and makes players not want to play with each other. This is MLS, so pretty much all our players have obvious shortcomings: Callens his occasional brainfarts, Maxi his size and finishing, Ring his long-range passing, etc. But most of them have something positive, even pretty good. I see many teams in MLS getting results without most of their players showing anything to the naked eye that you would call good. Late-period Villa wasn't as good as 2016 or 2017. Heber is a clear upgrade over Jo Inge. Sands has arrived. We should and can be higher in the stands, we can dominate away.

With the weather in the city, the Yankees playing at home at 1 PM and NYCFC playing at 5 PM, a rain delay could cause a YES Network fiasco again.

Looks like the rain should completely miss the Yankees game. Weather.com shows the chance of rain not exceeding 15% between 8am to midnight tomorrow.

So, the lineup assumes none of the questionable players are available. If any are, the 18 looks a lot better.

Remember too that Scally is off playing Concacaf U-18 and isn't available. That means we only have 2 fullbacks for this game. If Sweat gets hurt, I think we would put Ofori or Rocha on the left - maybe Callens. Not sure what we would do about Tinnerholm.

The big question is whether we stick to a 3-man backline without Sands. I am guessing not.

Doesn't look like Mitri made the trip.
