Away - November 21 - Orlando - Round One (Postgame)

Its almost as if the MLS tried its best to get worldwide recognition for all the wrong reasons this match. How the fuck could the MLS have a party external to the match make a decision like that?

it is absolutely infuriating. the refereeing was bad enough, now we have 3rd party off premise doctors making subs for us?

so the collision was enough to force a medically mandated sub from the league, but the cause with Ruan sizing up Anton before running through him didn't deserve a straight red? curious indeed.

I'm surprised nobody has brought up yet that our season ended with a mistake from a left back, again.

One of the Spanish announcers was making fun of Mata in regards to last years mistake almost all game.

I'll check out the final but i'm done with MLS until our preseason. I don't have any hopes for CCL. We've played overall better than Shithole FC since we entered the league but they're going further in the playoffs than we've ever did in their first appearance. This team and CFG as a whole lack the cojones to win the big one.
Fuck this deep in the butt.

This game may spurn some Q Anon level conspiracy shit. The deep state is totally against us.

Anyone think Ruan should have been given red for the Tinny hit? Anytime you don’t play the ball and turn into a headhunting NFL linebacker I say straight up red. It’s not worth worrying that the game is too soft to let that shit continue in my book.

And yeah, we got away with stuff but I saw what looked more like Judo throws a few times by Orlando and a chappy didn’t bat an eye.

Another bug up me butt is the stupidity of the handball rule. It just makes no sense how it’s being officiated. Did Tinnerholm actually make himself unnaturally bigger? Did it prevent a obvious chance for Orlando. It just makes the game seem dumb to me especially when other hand balls are ignored.

The type handball ( hitting arm from behind) has been called the same elsewhere, similar one happened in EPL( spurs vs Newcastle I think) and caused huge anger too.

There is a video medical director, an impartial doctor, at the officials table. He received video replays from MLS HQ. Images/videos sent to him would suggest that a player must be taken off the field, even many minutes after the incident. The referee, coach, nor player have control over the decision. It's direct decision from the impartial doctor.

I stepped away to watch the end of stoppage time and penalties and that’s one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen in football. They had to consult the rule book? Then Nani’s saved penalty SJ came off the line even more than their keeper did. Then Thor’s saved penalty their keeper jumped way off the line. What a shit show.

And yet Nani's clear handball didn't lead to a PK.

The rule is that ONE foot has to remain on the line at the time of the kick. Johnson's back foot is clearly on the line while Gallese was off the line an inch. that's the difference. a small one, but correct interpretation of the law.

I'm surprised nobody has brought up yet that our season ended with a mistake from a left back, again.

That's because it was a fair 1 on 1, like penalties always are. It was so to say a forced error (I admit it was a terrible PK – facing an outfield player, he could have just rolled it into any bottom corner). Last year it was a different thing: a player not good enough lost his mind and made a fatal error that ended the season. It was an unforced error that came out of stupidity.

This was a coin flip game between two even teams. We wanted heads, it came up tails. For every "what if" for City there was a "what if" for Orlando. Perhaps NYCFC was better for more of the game - Gallese was incredible - but if you cannot score up a man for 30 minutes, you live with a (hilarious) penalty result.

Personally, I am fine with this result and intrigued by next season. A case could be made that if you removed DP's from each MLS team, NYCFC would be the strongest squad. If CFG makes good use of the two open DP slots, and if playing actual home games is possible, I realistically expect a run at Supporters Shield. A number of ifs, granted, but unlike other years there is a path to DP improvement which is essential under the current roster rules of MLS.

The seeds for today's loss were planted months ago. This offseason might be the most important in team history.

I hope Ruan gets an extra game suspension for the Tinny hit.
