Away - November 8 - Chicago (Postgame)

I'm not sure if this has been broken down yet, but if my math is correct Seattle is the only west coast team that we can't finish ahead of right now. So 8f results go just right tonight....and we win the east, we could still host MLS Cup against all but Seattle.

We could also finish I think as low as 5 in the West, but that's not as exciting so I didn't look it up.

Wait why is everyone here saying Columbus? We’re going to Orlando?

Didn't see the Nashville-Orlando score. Nashville 3 - Orlando 2. Columbus 2 - Atlanta 1.

3. Columbus
4. Orlando
5. NYCFC

We're going to Orlando.

That has to be some Callens was fighting for. There’s no way the club would be okay with him leaving. If he goes and doesn’t start it would be such a waste.

it's WC qualifiers right? it would be a total waste if he doesn't play, but i think he's thinking about being on the squad for the WC. if he keeps denying the call ups, he's not gonna get one come WC time.

No one's talking about it, but Ibeagha had a really solid and really good display out there in the second half. Going into the playoffs if we don't have Callens, I'd feel confident with Ibeagha starting next to Chanot.

With the new quarantine rules in NY Callens should only have to quarantine for 4-5 days after coming back from Peru instead of 14 days (as long as he doesnt get COVID). Thats probably still missing the first playoff game. He skipped 1 round of WC qualifiers but no way can he skip this round too if the Coach wants him.

Well that was a fun game. The team has really found its scoring stroke, and I'll just throw this defensive effort as an off day. Going into the playoffs on a four-game win streak is a good way to go, and considering our form since August, we're one of the hottest teams in MLS and with a pretty good road record. I'm not saying I like our chances, but I don't think we'll be significant underdogs against Orlando City.

Scoring four was very encouraging considering how clearly unfit Maxi was. That was one of the quietest games for ages from him. The same with Tinnerholm.
Ibeagha played well, but as Sands is out, losing Callens to WC qualifiers means there are no replacements left if something bad happens to Ibeagha or Chanot.

I dug into the Opta report and the top line numbers are a bit misleading, because they credit Frankowski with 2 shots 1 second apart at 41:05 and 41:06 that had a 75% chance of scoring each. It is impossible that he could have scored on both of them, because if he scored on the first he never takes the second. Chicago also had consecutive lower percentage shots at 83:11 and 83:12. Account for those and Chicago's xG -- in terms of goals they could have actually scored -- goes down to about 2.75. And they scored 3. Their problem is NYCFC significantly over-performed. People should remember the times we do that.
