I remember there was a stretch last year when Dome kept subbing out Mitrita, often for no obvious tactical or injury reasons. I remember he went a long stretch of not playing 90' in a single match. I figured he had to be more a a man management thing than a game management thing. He had been underperforming up to that point before he eventually started showing some consistent flashes of his abilities later in the year.

It may not be the best way to handle things, but you gotta be concerned that two managers have had issues with Mitrita.
Three - if you include his manager with the national team.

I wouldn't be surprised if what's going on here is bigger than just Mitri not defending. When taken out of the starting lineup, he may have reacted poorly.

Hope Medina can show us something again. Or Parks? Wya buddy?

if we still had Dome at the helm, I wouldn't be so worried. He is intelligent enough and WILLING to make the necessary changes to make up for not having maxi. we didn't have maxi last year for some games and still did pretty well.

With Ronny, I have zero confidence. I truly think he's going to rely on Medina as his playmaker and then keep doing what he's been doing.

What he should be doing is getting Nico on the field and make Parks be the playmaker. Bring Ring back so there is defensive security in the midfield with both Ring as the enforcer and Nico as the deep holding midfielder/passing. Parks is not great at defense anyway, so let him stay up.

Unfortunately, Maxi's injury and mata's mystery injury are just the beginning. I think we'll be seeing a lot more injuries in the next few weeks, especially with congested scheduling and ronny's lack of rotation and subs.

I think, but don't quote me, but I think YES said it was a calf injury suffered in training and that it wasn't serious. I'm shocked we haven't gotten an update on Maxi yet. Anyone know when Deila talks to the media this week?

he says mata is questionable. medina is also iffy cause of his "legs"...? guess that means exhaustion.. (no shit).

sands is out for yellow card.

I agree with your general premise that if Dome was still here, I'd feel much better about how we would adjust without Maxi available.

But to also be completely fair, Dome really didn't do that well without Maxi last season. I did a thread on Twitter about this after the Philadelphia game in Orlando. 5 points in 5 games and only 4 goals scored.

no doubt maxi is a major part of our playmaking ability. but those games you mention without maxi.. the first game vs TFC and the next vs montreal, we were still learning Dome's system. The next 3 games, were were missing key players in other parts of the field, namely callens for a couple games and both callens and chanot for at least one. Heber for many of them as well (though not sure 2020 heber is doing much for us right now). RSL game is a tough place to play no matter who you are. We should have won the TFC game at home but for some questionable ref calls and a magical jozy penalty call as usual.

For missing a lot of players, Dome did fantastic. Taking the 3 games after the team learned Dome's sytem, we got 4 out of 9 points, which is pretty good when you are missing a lot of key players.

I think given the same group of players, Ronny would get nothing.

injury report:

maxi - out

gideon - still out .. will he ever come back??

tavvon - out (guess there's no breaks for chanot and callens.. gotta depend on ibby!)

Yeah it's not fair to dunk on Ronny there -- pro sports teams are using metrics that aren't publicly available, and I'm sure he's not lying when he gives that note.
Where have you heard that pro sports teams do that?

Ronny is using his own, subjective metric.
