To counter all the pessismism that has descended on the NYCFC fanbase, let's discuss the best games or wins in City history.

I say games and not just wins because I rate our August draw against Red Bulls as one of the best games I attended. We came back from 0-1 while playing down a man, then held on for the draw while down two men and absorbing a constant Red Bull attack for 20 minutes. Unfortunately the highlights don't do it justice.

My favorite game of our history is probably the game at Portland in 2016. It was one of the first games in franchise history that made me feel like we had an identity, played with pride, and could be a top team in this league. Two amazing balls by Allen for an assist and later McNamara for the game winning goal. Then, like the Red Bull game, our defense absorbed a relentless late game barrage to hold on to the 2-1 scoreline. Again, the highlights don't do the defensive effort justice, but watch for Hernandez and Saunders reactions at the final whistle.

I'd have to agree either comeback vs D.C. or the second RB game from this year. Both absolutely insane games!
Though I have to say a bunch of our home games from this year in the latter half made for quite the exciting games.

Favorite from 2015:

Pirlo's first game. He was spinning, and dealing, and Poku was bossing and Tommy and Villa were scoring. Even though this also marked the start of Larin's annoying domination of our defense, this was the only time in 2015 I came close to thinking we might make a decent run to the playoffs.

In 2016 I'm going to agree with sbrylski sbrylski and the Portland game for all the reasons he stated.

Back later with more.

We've actually had quite a few great ones already. The DC United game when Lampard won it was fun, but the Villa hat trick against Red Bulls was, to me, the loudest I've ever heard the stadium for NYCFC. It was ROCKING that night. The tie against RB this year was also a classic and very loud.

Chicago game with the Herrera red card gets an honorable mention.

Another one -- the rain game against Seattle. There was one point where I thought the ref was about to pull the teams off the field because of the quagmire, but even despite the deluge it was just a ton of fun to be there for that one. Felt like a special game, and anyone who sat through the elements earned some major fan points.

2017 is tough to pick. I would say the short handed win over Chicago, but I missed it for a family obligation, though I was able to listen to most of it on the radio driving way way out to Suffolk. The Villa hat trick game was immense as an experience, but the 2-0 win in RBA earlier that season seemed more momentous.

2018 -- sorry but I can't agree with the love for that 1-1 draw against RB at home. [Edit: trying to stay positive in this thread so I cut all the reasons that game soured for me]. If you love that game good for you. I don't want to ruin it for you. But I'm going with the 2-2 draw in Atlanta in April, when we twice came back in arguably the toughest away environment in MLS.

I had forgotten about that game in Atlanta. Not sure it's my favorite game, but it's probably the best game we've ever played.

Yep. It’s this one. Epic. So rare to have a lead, lose it, have the other team get a lead, and then come back and not just tie but win. And against your arch rival.

I can still remember all the Red Bulls fans ringing the third row chanting “Who’s Your Daddy” and then 10 minutes later the entire stadium chanting at them “Back to Jersey”.

Adding my votes in for the 10-man win vs Chicago in 2017, and the Villa hat trick derby.

The 2-0 home derby win in 2016 was also a big win, as it was the first in the derby for us, it followed the 7-0 drubbing, and it was a pretty dominant win. The Villa hat trick win wasn’t a very dominant win, it was just Villa balling out.

And the first win vs NE, “the historic home opener” was of course special. I remember watching and being optimistic about the season, and thinking Villa was gonna be magic. The former was wrong, the latter, very true
