Brandt And Meara Play In Wilmington

People complaining about trading Zizzo, but remember that NYCFC wanted at first to spend like 300K in allocation money to RBNY for a full transfer before settling on the lesser loan. If anyone is hurt, it's RBNY. Now they won't get nearly the return on Meara they could have had just a few months ago and NYCFC relatively dodges a bullet.

Saunders is playing well at the moment, but he's not a long-term answer. He's capable of stopping some shots, but it has to be said that the finishing in the Colorado game was very, very poor.
His positioning has been top notch. Keepers can often play well into their 30s. I agree that he didn't face many quality shots this week, but he has risen to the occasion as needed. I have no way of knowing how much he is asked to do as far as organizing the back line, but that has been a mess. Probably could use some more help from the keeper in that dept.

Saunders has played well this season. Regardless, even if Meara comes back and plays lights out... he's not dependable. The number 1 tool for a keeper or any player is availability. If he's not available he can't help the club. This is a terrible blow and I feel bad for the guy and hopefully he can heal up quickly I just have my reservations about him.

Does anyone actually know what happened to either of these guys?

Unfortunately Wilmington haven't really publicised their friendly. They did a few tweets mid-game but haven't produced a match report. It makes it a little hard to know how they got on, or even how much they played.

Perhaps one of our friendly neighbourhood Hammerheads could help us out? SaraILM SaraILM @Greg G @Debi

Hi :)

So I honestly had no clue either of these guys was on the field during that friendly, there were no names/numbers on the jerseys, or a publicized roster... would have been nice to know, I only heard about it after the fact... but anyways!

IIRC Meara took a knock from collision with an opposing player during a goal attempt. He was down for a little while and finished the half but yeah, they subbed in Larry Jackson for the second half.

Not sure about Brandt at all.
