"I’m 50/50 now on whether to keep Vieira past this year - I’m pretty sure he’s no better than being the top assistant to the manager because he has no feel for roster management."

Most ridiculous thing I've ever read on this forum.

Players like Harrison have developed tremendously under Vieira, we have a clear style of play. Glaring holes like defense have improved markedly. Our signings this year broadly have been excellent. We are criticizing Vieira for testing Shelton's development after returning from injury, and easing in Lewis with some more minutes for McNamara than many would like. Sure there are always disagreements on lineup tweaks, but I don't see these decisions as crazy. (I too would love to see Harrison and Lewis combining with Villa!)

I think Vieira is building a winning culture, forcing the young players to really earn their spot and giving the benefit of doubt to players who maintain the shape (McNamara) and take responsibility on both sides of the ball (Shelton). If it means he keeps shiny young new talent on the bench extra to learn and build fire in their belly then so be it.

There are few teams in MLS worth watching, NYCFC is one of them and I think it will stay that way for a very long time due to Vieira.
I think it's somewhere in the middle.

PV has a lot to improve on, but I do think he's a great fit here and isn't close to being sacked at all. I think that would be such a massive mistake.

I commend your attempt at spinning the lineup decisions, but I think they are baffling at the least.

The only thing I can say in clear support of PV is that the latest signings have all been very very good. I don't know if that's more on him or the FO, but Callens, Herrera, and Ring have been absolute homeruns, and Maxi has been very good and very influential (he is, for good or ill, the cog through which most of our plays get traction, in a way Pirlo never was), Struna looks promising, Camargo who knows but was inexpensive. So the direction is promising there.

Holy hell, how short is everyone's memory if we've already forgotten how good we have it under Vieira?

The locker room is under control. The youth is developing. We have a consistent formation. We have a consistent game plan. We have consistent tactics. He's a good speaker. He's on good terms with upper management. He helps with marketing and player recruitment. We are in second place in the entire league after strong improvement on both sides of the ball.

Nobody is saying Vieira is perfect, or all his decisions are easily digestible from an outsiders perspective. But don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and give at least a little benefit of the doubt regardless of how highly you value your own opinion.

If you think Vieira's seat is even slightly warm, you need to take three giant steps back and regain some perspective.

Can you honestly say we have a consistent formation and a consistent game plan and consistent tactics? I personally think we’ve been debating quite a bit lately of how we haven’t been playing our preferred 433 and we aren’t sure what some of the players roles are when placed out there.

Everything else you mentioned is spot on, but if a coach doesn’t utilize his roster correctly and doesn’t put his players in the best position to succeed, and I don’t think Vieira has always done that this year, then there is a very glaring hole in his deliverables. I don’t think his seat is hot, but I do think if we get embarrassed in the playoffs that CFG will start to take notice.

I think that's the biggest question mark I have about Vieira's ability. Some of the lineups he puts out there and some of the substitutions he makes are real head scratchers. Why wasn't Matarrita in on Saturday? Who knows. Obviously we don't know what happens at training, but Matarrita is better than Sweat 9 times out of 10. Now maybe he wants to brings along Mata slowly because he's just getting back and wants him 100% in two weeks.
