This debate is about the advantages and disadvantages of being involved in a football group.

It is posted on the NYCFC forum, but views from Mebourne City, Manchester City, & Yokahama F Marinos (and of any other team that join the group) are welcome to post.

The concept of a footballing group, as far as I am aware is new. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of being in a group. Do you welcome it or are you against it.

Please when posting remember this is the NYCFC forum, and do not dis respect them or any team in the group when posting. Please post constructively with views / arguments to debate. Remember the forum rules and do not post if you are going to take answers personally. This is meant to discuss the structure (or possible structure) of the Group, views on being a group member, and how that might affect your team.

It is not to big up CFG,Man City, NYCFC or any other team, Each team in the group is a local team with a local identity. Yes lets talk, lets work together, lets discuss our hopes and fears, but remember we are one.

As most associate the Warzone/debate forum with arguing and such I'm going to move this to Football discussion.
If you're looking for level headed discussion on the matter that's where you'll find it.
If you want it moved back we can do that as well.

No I want level headed discussion please

That's why I moved it to football discussion. You clearly won't get level headed discussion in thenwarzone because that section was created specifically for non level headed discussion. But as you wish.

I don't think the average MLS fan wouldn't even notice or dig deep enough to do the research.

I'd guess having other teams in different leagues in the same sport would be a good thing since you'd always be able to infuse a team or league with different players from other leagues or give players experience in a different league if they were looking for playing time.

Obviously, you can't compare the level of competition in the Premier League with MLS. But how does the level of competition in MLS compare to the Japanese J.League Div 1 or the Australian A-League?

I think the advantage is that you have a worldwide scouting network. Pooling resources only makes it strong. The disadvantage is in order for it to make sense, there has to be a hierarchy. Right now that's not a problem because there's no question the talent difference between say MCFC and NYCFC. But if the talent gaps start closing between some squads/leagues there is a significant potential for infighting.

Hi, when I said No I want level headed discussion, I meant I was happy with what you did in moving it.... I was answering your question.... (I suppose its one of those subtle differences between English and American language)

If the debate is level headed it doesnt matter where the thread is

The pyramidic nature of the CFG will benefit all member teams,EDS players at MCFC can go out on loan to whoever to improve their skills which in turn should raise playing standards across all CFG teams leagues, conversely the sheer size of what is now a global scouting network can only benefit every team by finding new talent appropriate for the level each league is at.There is the opportunity for reverse progression whereby a J league(for example) player may be able to be loaned to Melbourne, improve to the extent that he could cut it in the MLS or perhaps progress to the top tier at the EPL.The other side to the coin is as ex MCFC players become free agents with plenty of skill/experience still to give they can move to other teams in the CFG rather than be lost to the sport.Just my take and not designed to offend anyone ;)

Using the World Cup rosters by league is the best way to show quality in my opinion... MLS is better than both A-League and J-League.

In fact, the last world cup MLS only had 6 players on rosters. This time it's 17. It's proof that the quality of the league is increasing big time.

The only way it will make another big jump though is money. Quality of play is only half the reason good players don't come here. The other half is money.

I think a few people on here need to calm down. Firstly as a Man City fan for over 40 years some of the so called city fans posting on here need to be ashamed of themselves. I was at the real Old Trafford watching England and met many City fans we all agreed not to turn into the arrogant fans across town. After all we more than most know what it is like to lose all the time. Also a few NYCFC fans have also posted utter rubbish that only shows their own stupidity. City have always been more than a club giving back to the community. Remember if it wasn't for City United would have gone under. Where did United play after the war? So in fact all of united's success is because of City. Would they have helped us? Clearly a lot of NYCFC fans have no idea of our history. I am proud of my club for what it has and still stands for. Us the fans have suffered but we were there at York etc. we will always be there no matter what. You should be honoured to be part of this family. So what if Lampard does or does not come he is one player for one or two seasons. A few on here need to grow up. CFG will act in the best interests of all. NYCFC may suffer here and in 30 years it may be MCFC. To turn this into a MCFC hate fest is totally unacceptable and only goes to highlight underlying agendas.

To answer max's statement above. I've been a NYCFC fan since it was rumoured and announced on the City website. Which in all probability is before him. How dare he say or insinuate I am less of a supporter than him. NYCFC and the two MCFCs are now linked deal with it or support another team. I agree this could have been handled better. However many on here need to grab some perspective. I follow a team that won nothing for my entire lifetime until the FA cup. Oh as we are from Manchester half my family supports United. Right now we have to trust that whatever CFG do is for the best of all three clubs. Even if we don't like it. The time to judge is in three years. The guys and girls in charge know what they are doing. We all are just going to have to trust them. Oh and by the way I have read this forum since it was setup. However, since I am not even a member of bluemoon I just read the comments. Yet I can't standby a read such utter rubbish said about City. Those that do as I have said before have no idea what City stands for and that is all three clubs. The ideals my have been born in Manchester but they are shared by all of the clubs now. Three clubs one City. We don't really own the one in Japan.

I'm a fan of it, we have access to plenty of resources, and we get owners with deep pockets. I get a reason to support an EPL club as well.

I would say MLS is a better league than both the J-league and the A-league.

I did read

Three teams one CITY Three teams one CITY in order to decide on what the 'right' thing is you must remove any and all affiliation between the two clubs. When you do so and have Lampard loaned out to ANY club through December an extension of the loan is NOT in any way beneficial to OUR club and thus he should not be extended. The one true club that matters to US (in case you forgot who this forum was intended for) is NYCFC and our players are our players and them being here for our season is important for us.
Now if you find anything 'rubbish' about that statement or find anything but logic in it then you really don't belong here.
Our staff has mentioned multiple times they are working tirelessly to put a team together and that their primary goal is putting together a starting 11. Lampard was clearly part of this plan. Now because and only because he's performed above expectation during his loan the progress our staff has made must be undermined for the glory and success of a team which many of our supporters don't care about. As has been mentioned by our staff we might not receive any players on loan this year so now all the progress they've made with building towards opening day with Lampard factored into the starting 11 is lost if the loan is extended through the end of season (presuming). And we have nothing to gain from it. All in all whatever happens there is only 1 'right' decision and you don't need to wait for CFG to tell you what that is by making it and that's to return him to the team and supporters that need him the most. Because let's be honest, if Lamps returns to us no one in Manchester will bat an eye. If he doesn't I can't say the same for those in NYC.

I was just thinking, what do man city fans think of this? I mean, we have heard from twenty of them, but I want to hear from ALL of them.
Funny thing is Tom the 20 you have heard from say Lampard should be at NyCFC but I will let the guys on blue moon know you want to hear from them
