Concacaf Champions League

They are investing in academies but maybe coaches/teams aren't putting that much stock in it because chances are we're completely outgunned in the later stages which shouldn't even be a thing.

I don't buy the depth argument that some, including Alejandro bedoya, are making. Montreal has played only four league games this year. They had their full team available and rested. MLS just isn't close to LigaMX.

I am reading alot of this ( on twitter and such) that the coaching and development still has ways to go. Though I felt that at this day and age they should of been going in the right direction at least in methods.
Also lots of mention of "Culture" that has to change. An example given is that kids in other parts of the world play alot even after training and that even fathers and uncles ( that arent coaches) still encourage and play with their kids in their spare time. and here any play after training feels like a "homework" to the kids. I dont know if this is true or not.

Thats the thing, only four games were played meaning they probably still arent fully fit and it showed in the second half. They were gassed in that second half. Maybe instead of postponing all those games they could of played maybe one of the postponed games to get more fit and possibly have a better chance to winning.

Montreal, the worse team in MLS by far, really never had a chance. It was only luck and circumstance that allowed them to get that far.

So yes Montreal can't really compete with LigaMX but other MLS clubs can.

what say you on the "rumors" circulating that MLS owners will take the tournament more seriously in the next edition? so are they saying it hasnt been taken seriously up to now?

I'm not sure going forward teams that haven't taken it seriously will, but yes I do think that many mls teams see it as a pain and not priority. Sort how Seattle takes the USOC seriously but many other mls clubs don't.

I don't understand why many owners don't take these kinds of things seriously. It's a chance to get the fans excited about potentially winning trophies.
And I'm sure the extra games could bring in some added revenue.
There's no way that Montreal isn't benefitting or going to benefit from this season's CONCACAF run. The exposure alone can't hurt.

To be honest, I'm going to predict a massive implosion in Montreal now that they lost the final. Not that they weren't already sucking in MLS. this weeks game for them will be telling.

you guys ready for a new edition? The draw is tonight at 8PM, i assume concacaf will have a live stream of it.

When do the group stage matches actually begin?

If we want MLS teams and fans to care about this tournament they mighty actually have to advertise and have the dates for their matches released like the UEFA champions league. I realize that the play isn't close to that level, but the marketing, passion of the fans, the clubs, and the players could certainly be there.
