Cristiano Ronaldo To MLS?

That's the rumor of the day - but wouldn't be until his contract with RM is up in 2018.

If he does come to MLS, I would think we'd be a top candidate since Yankee Stadium might be the only venue big enough to hold his ego.

I think he'd come to MLS, but I think he'd favor going to LA and the Galaxy, with his nemesis Leo Messi coming to NYCFC due to the Barca connections CFG already have.

Send Ronaldo or Messi here and I'm pretty much tattooing the NYCFC logo on my body. lol Either one would be incredible but I'd prefer to see CR7.

If we can get a 32-33 yr old Messi here, that would be the biggest MLS signing ever.
Biggest ever, ever. Because he's the best player ever and I doubt we'll see a player that good again ever.

Messi will still be trying to win the Ballon D'or at 32/33 there's no way he'll leave Barca at that age, he'll probably retire at Barcelona or might go back to Argentina. I can see Ronaldo coming to MLS, I doubt it will be as early as 2018 though.

Ronaldo would be younger in 2018 than Lampard is now. Don't worry though he is going to Miami.

Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl is a well-connected reporter, and his word carries significant weight.

So when he reports that multiple sources tell him Cristiano Ronaldo plans to come to Major League Soccer on a free transfer in 2018, it does more to validate the “CR7 to MLS” rumors than many dreaming MLS fans could hope.

It’s well down the line, but Real Madrid’s Ballon d’Or winner could be coming Stateside.
In Wahl’s “Insider Notes” column on Tuesday, he said this:
File this one for down the road, but multiple sources tell me that Cristiano Ronaldo’s current plan is to come to MLS after he finishes at Real Madrid, with one source saying he would likely arrive on a free transfer in 2018 once his current contract ends.

Wahl drops Miami, New York and Los Angeles as destinations for the then 33-year-old wizard.

Ronaldo’s agent has claimed that the Portuguese star would retire after his time at Real Madrid draws to a close, but reports of his future arrival in MLS — including with David Beckham’s Miami club should it come to fruition — are nothing new.

2018, though? Life is what happens when you’re making plans, Cristiano.

Ronaldo likes America. He adores LA.

If Beckham doesn't have Miami up and running in 2018 (and it looks like that will be the case) then I have ZERO doubts Ronaldo will suit up for Los Angeles FC in 2018.

One of the legion of billionaire/multimillionaire owners of LAFC is Magic Johnson....

Totally forgot about LAFC in 2018. Yeah, they'll be looking for a top DP. Start play in 2017, possibly opening their stadium in 2018 and plenty of cash. That's a solid option.

I happen to love that no one even thinks that Red Bulls are in this conversation.

I don't think Red Bull will be around in 2018. I definitely think they'll sell.
