We're getting close. I had wanted it done it 2 weeks and that passed over the weekend. Your reasonable target of end of month, basically 3 weeks, is also close. If it's all Europeans involved both on the decision to hire and as candidates I suppose it could happen over Thanksgiving weekend, but they might hold the announcement until next Monday. If we don't hear something by tomorrow I would expect to wait another week, and if it doesn't happen then, I'm concerned.
Also the longer it takes I think the less likely it is to be GVB.
Have to imagine the Claudio situation delayed it. But you're right, we need a coach real soon at this point. Can't wait much longer with training camp six weeks away.

There is so much about this that doesn't make sense.

The notion that Cincy would somehow be better at the things that Dome was complaining about (scouting, spending).

The notion that Cincy is in a position to nitpick the decisions of a coach with Dome's pedigree.

About the only thing that might make sense is that Dome is becoming more desperate for a job given all the time that has passed.

Nothing about his departure ever made sense. It was lose | lose for everyone.
And yes, for him to go to Cincy after his stated reasons for leaving NYC is nuts, as is the idea that Cincy would or could deny his assistant coach choices.

A must read article:

He got the opportunity to prove all of that when New York City handed him a return to management in June 2018. Torrent led them to Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference title for the first time in their brief history in his only full season but then left, citing a need for new challenges.

That's not quite right. I'd consider Eastern Conference title as the team from the East that advances to MLS Cup. We won the Eastern Conference regular season, which means nothing, aside from a Concacaf Champions League berth.

Since then, he has rejected offers from the Middle East, South America, the Spanish second division and three MLS clubs, among others.

Three MLS clubs offered Dome! And he turned them all down!

Torrent’s departure from New York was sudden.

Winning the Eastern Conference in that style was a huge achievement, yet it was an equally big disappointment to be knocked out of the subsequent title play-offs at the first hurdle. A statement referred to the new opportunities he is still looking for eight months later but he now admits things were not right behind the scenes at Yankee Stadium.

“I would have stayed for another five years for sure because I was very, very, very happy there, honestly, but when you see that you can’t change things and that everything would stay the same, you have to go,” he says.

“The players were perfect, the staff were perfect, but there were things that could be improved at the club, things that would have improved us, and in the end, you have to feel comfortable. There were problems in this department and that department. So I said, ‘We can’t go on like this’.”

Had Claudio Reyna not left to Austin, Gio Van Bronckhorst would have been named manager.

this is not shocking how torrent himself said that he had heard GVB was already in line to take over. the Minnesota game in early 2019 was the last chance he had.

Can you please give the full context or at least his complete response. That last partial sentence - besides having a convoluted construction - is tantalizing. Links to what....

Of course if it were something interesting you probably would have posted it and I'll just be disappointed when I learn. But it's tickling my curiousity bone.

Thanks. Some fascinating stuff, including support for factions who argued with each other a few months ago, namely those who said that he almost left us for another club is evidence of behind the scenes dysfunction, and those who said that if he seriously considered leaving us for another MLS team given his complaints he's an idiot. Turns out he did believe there was dysfunction, he had other MLS offers, and he's not that big of an idiot.

I'd love to ask about this at the upcoming town hall but I already submitted mine, and more importantly, the questions are pre-screened and this would never be chosen.

Yep, it may be that his definition of dysfunction includes factors that aren't material for fans, but it was def not a problem with MLS and def a problem with our club in particular.
