Expansion Rumors Megathread

Oh please god no, that organization is atrocious to the core. Might be fun to follow from afar, but you'd be getting another organization that Precourt would be proud of..

Really? But the lamas and Elvis on a motorcycle and cash money drop and the marijuana dispensary sponsor and the great jerseys?

I think Elvis didn't come back for the Wynalda era, and they toned down the promos like that. I know a few people and met a few others that that are in Vegas that loathe the fakeness of the team and want something legit. So the MLS Vegas I would imagine would be a LOT different from the first year side show lol

The Overtown location is awful.

And not cause it’s a “bad” area. Lots of successful sports stadiums are in “bad” areas.

Overtown is awful because they don’t have enough land. No one wants to drive there only to have parking be a major issue.

fakeness? want something legit? sounds like pro/rel people words, and no i dont think MLS goes to vegas with USL there already.

silly for sure but made it stand out more than other teams in the league

so where is the temporary area going to be? what was the old strikers stadium for then? just a training facility? gonna be another nycfc situation?

Inter Miami will play their first 2 MLS seasons (at least) at the former Lockhart Stadium (formerly the home of the now defunct Ft.Lauderdale Strikers). This location is in the City Of Fort Lauderdale (roughly 25-50 minute drive away from Miami depending on time of day etc).

Inter Miami are not renovating Lockhart; they are building a temp stadium on the Lockhart site which they began demolishing recently.

I have no clue how they will be ready to go for the 2020 season (we will be entering hurricane season down here soon etc) at the Ft Lauderdale site.

Inter Miami swears their new, permanent soccer specific stadium will be in Miami starting with the 2022 season.

Once the permanent Miami stadium is built, the Ft.Lauderdale location will be a training facility.

It’s a bit of a mess, actually. Not NYCFC stadium mess territory, but inching closer every day.

Golden Knights owner wants to bring MLS to Las Vegas to play in Raiders stadium. It is roofed stadium but grass field is an option so there’s that.

For pyramid scheme as claimed by pro rep fanatics, MLS sure keeps managing to find willing investors. And these investors are no suckers.
An away day trip I would certainly make.

Is this a second proposal in Las Vegas?

I would like to commend your beautiful use of asterisks and daggers. Thank you for your precise referencing.
Thank you.

To be honest, it took me about as long to find out how to type the double-dagger as it did to research the numbers. For the record, it's option-t (on a Mac) for † and option-shift-7 for the ‡.
