Fights Between Nycfc And Cosmos Fans ?

As much as I dislike violence...carry a knife.
When in danger, I highly recommend just pulling your pants down - no one will fuck with you while your genitals are flapping in the breeze

Yes, by all means diffuse and deescalate if you can. But sometimes people just want to hurt you and won't stop until they do. Many people need to learn this reality and be prepared to fight and protect themselves if it comes down to it.

So your advice is to get beat up? Great advice.

Tons of people have been hurt or killed despite knowing their surroundings. So why shouldnt people protect themselves? If 3 guys surprise you and try to jump you despite you being in what should have been a safe area...just how are you getting away at max speed? Youre the kind of guy that would be a victim potentially in a hospital while the criminals get away without learning a lesson.

Me on the other hand, if I end up in the hospital, Im taking someone with me. Self preservation calls for me to protect myself at all costs. And Im saying that to you as a guy who grew up in the city and has been in some unsavory circumstances. Some people don't want to "all just get along" with you.

PS - What suburban hooligan is pulling a gun at a soccer match? Be realistic. When was a fan ever shot at a professional soccer game in the USA. When ever or how often has that even happened?

PPS - You forget there are lawful people in this country with concealed carry permits. As much as I hate the gun violence in this country, if hooliganism gains ground in our nation, one of those idiots will be dead in the news soon enough. This aint Europe.
I get what you are saying. You're probably right. I'd be the one getting my ass kicked. That's the path I've chosen. Gandhi is my hero. I'll avoid at all costs and will never carry a weapon.

Im just saying bro...always be prepared for the unexpected situations and always protect yourself and your loved ones.
I was jumped by 3-4 Cosmos supporters as soon as I got off the shuttle at the train station. Scarf was stolen and they didn't take any other valuables. I think they were just looking to steal colors. Have a scratch on my face and significant sized bruise/cut on my arm, and a few smaller bruises elsewhere.

This was definitely my fault for traveling to the train station after the game by myself and having too much to drink. That potent beer with no dinner snuck up on me. I apologize for my state at the game, thank you HoO members for taking care of me.
I wish I was there with my friends to help you. Those suburban clowns would have gotten their teeth kicked in. However its likely those pussies wouldnt do a damn thing if you had buddies with you. This thread has my blood boiling. American sports should be above this mess.

going back to the post about the chants needing to be slowed down, I was front and center and there was no problem....how slow do the chants need to be? keep up!!!
Speed and conducting both affect the coherence of the chants. Right now one thing I notice sitting in front of the SS is that we often hear one side of the SS a half line in front of the other side. Is there discussion among or between TR and HoO et al about how to conduct the chants so everyone starts and stays together?

Not the pace of the singing, but the underlying song tempos. A lot of the stuff now sounds really muddled. Slower songs carry better and make for a more coherent voice, meaning other people can understand them, learn them and join them.

Whats just as embarrassing in my eyes is that our supporters were throwing bottles and other pieces of trash onto the pitch at the Cosmos players. Did you notice how they segregated the NYC FC supporters to certain entrances and delayed our exit ? Why give them more fuel by throwing trash towards their players ? This was disgusting to see and as a supporter I was completely ashamed. If you chose to be a low life, do it on your own time without representing this team.

This just pisses me off. I've been to Fenway wearing Yankee gear and had zero problems. And that is city full of ass holes who try and fight random people walking down the street around bars at night. Red Sox fans are always at Yankee stadium and they have no problems. You should be able to go to any game and not be harassed unless you're looking for it. If you're acting like a dick provoking people is one this but if you're just wearing a different jersey minding your own business buying shitty popcorn and get jumped is ridiculous.

Cosmo fans are pathetic there is nothing else you can say about them... it's just sad and I am sorry for anyone who was harassed.

any statements by the Cosmos supporters groups about the violence? or any NYCFC supporters groups reached out to their leadership to try to calm things down?

like if one group has an actual banner of scarves "stolen" from other supporters groups, then is that just a public admission and evidence of theft and possible assault? this immature, idiotic, hooliganism just turns me off to the whole supporters group things.

sometimes, it's more fun just being a fan and enjoying the game than supporter group drama (and violence).

I won't say guys calm down, because that would on some level be condoning the Cosmos despicable behavior. But lets be realistic, we play in MLS and they play in that other league, the one they have to constantly make up excuses for.

We are the top dog and supposedly the class act in this situation, act like it. Take solace in the fact that there in a non zero percent likelihood that the NASL will fold and the Cosmos will be out on its ass before we have to play those cretins again.

That said, these kind of idiots are everywhere, keep aware of your surroundings and know where your friends are. The best course of action we have, right now, is to make our voices heard to CFG and our supporters club presidents. Hopefully that should be enough to deal with the pure idiocy surrounding Cosmos' match day security planning.

If for some reason that doesn't work, well we show up with our version of security next time and see how well that works.

I agree. I can't speak for everyone but from what I saw we did not instigate it. They deserved what they got.

This is silly. We aren't in sixth grade anymore.
To each his own man. I'm just not that type of person that calls the cops. Unless I need a accident report. Tell me what good can come from crying to the government ?

The extent of all I did was go and complain to the Cosmos front office. Hell the only reason I did that is because I pass it on my way to work. They blamed Hofstra and claimed they had 6 cops on hand. 6 cops? I've seem more work a funeral detail or a parade.
