Formation Speculation

For a team that has been called out for not having the mentality to play a complete game, and lacks desire or heart, here's the captain, showing you his passion from minute one to minute 90+. He wants the team to be better, and I am happy to see it.

I do get what you are saying though. But I think for a guy who is already passionate, to almost lose a 3 goal lead, at home, in the heat, the frustration just erupted out of him.

I did say I appreciate his heart and desire to win. I don't think anyone's questioning that...but for him to sit down in the middle of the pitch pouting like that didn't scream captain to me. Maybe if he went ape shit in the locker room, I'd be ok with that, but not outside on TV in front of everyone.

Idk really. Judging by his gesturing it looked like he didn't like that they were relying on him scoring and having to playing defense at the end. He probably wanted to be able to stay up top for a counter to keep them honest.

I also don't think he liked the subs. The team was clicking. Stamina or not, Lampard, T-Mac, Harrison to Poku, Lopez, White was a big drop off.

I really appreciate his heart and desire to win, but watching it back later...it was almost embarrassing. 3 points against a tough team, after a long break, with a man down at the end, all DP's on the field contributing, Jack showing great promise...there were many positives. Maybe voice your complaints in the locker room...but him sitting in the middle of the field pouting like a 10 year old was too much. I have to imagine that PV had a talk with him about it. He's called him out on his complaining before, so this must have angered him.

I know many of you loved it, but it's just my honest opinion.

I didn't have a problem with any of that. The only thing that occurred to me is that Villa is also responsible for the fact that we were close at the end as he blew 2-3 really good scoring chances. I am sure that he is as hard on himself as anyone, however

I've seen enough of Villa to understand his pouting, and Saturday was not it at all.

This team has blown late lead after late lead this season, I definitely feel his frustration there.

I'm not really sure how you get this from his gesturing. I know we can all speculate here what he was going on about (I personally think he's just frustrated with our end of game performances) but how are you gathering the above from his hand gestures?

Completely disagree. As I mentioned in my other post, this is completely different than his normal on the field complaining/pouting. I highly doubt PV has a huge issue with this. He may have ended up having a conversation with him after the game about posturing in public, but I would be completely surprised if this angered PV.

I didn't have problem with Villa's passion, I think he was pissed they let it get so close. Although it did cross my mind that he was pissed at himself for missing 2-3 great chances and in return he lashed out at his teammates. If that's the case that's not okay.

I want to give a shout out to PV. The Forum collectively spent a lot of time and thought trying to figure out how to have Villa, Pirlo & Lampard on the field and effective at the same time. None of us considered moving Iraola to CDM and figured out how to do it like Coach did.
