Frank Lampard [Midfielder]

Convo recap?

I didn't want to bother him since he was going in and out but I said, "super Frank" to get his attention. He said how are you doing. I said looking forward to see you back on the pitch. I don't think he could hear me. He was with his wife, they got into a black suburban parked outside.

Saw him at the Upper East Side Apple Store. I'm wearing an NYCFC hat so I had to go over and shake his hand. He's buying an iPhone and headphones or something. Really cool dude.

Am I missing something or did he basically blow you off

This is actually a big draw for a lot of the soccer elite. Thierry Henri used to talk about how nice it was to be able to go out to great restaurants and not have anyone bother you.

This is actually odd considering a lot of the people on the Upper East Side (where Lampard was) is European (either tourist or cultured). Then again, Lampard isn't one of the top 5 most known players worldwide. If Ronaldo (maybe not Messi) came into the store, I think it would have been different. Similar if Donovan came into the store, nobody would have noticed like Lampard.

But everyone takes private cars here, so they aren't really walking along the streets where they are more likely to be noticed.

Dude didn't live in fucking Harrison - or anywhere in New Jersey. That's for fucking sure.

If I play for the Red Bulls, I'm living in New Jersey. It's where you practice and play. There nothing to do with Red Bull soccer in New York.

I don't think there are that many people who know who he is. That being said I think part of the draw to NYC for guys like Henry and Lampard or any celebrity for that matter is the fact that people in NYC generally leave celebs alone even when they do recognize them.

I swear if they offer him an extension after his contract ends, they should be taken in front of Gate 4 and shot.
Let's come back around to this post a year from now and see where we are. If he can recover from injury and get back to 100% I think this whole conversation will be very different. This year, not so much. Next year? I'm pretty optimistic.

You can play Find Fat Frank in our lineup
You can play FFF when people stand up
You can play FFF anywhere!
That cheeky bugger's good at hiding!

Likely tweaked his neck ducking.
