What does everyone think of the proliferation of online gambling firm and online casinos as shirt sponsors ? I think half the teams in England are sponsored by them and I feel it's tacky at best somewhat immoral at best ? I can't believe I miss the days when real companies like electronics or car manufacturers sponsored shirts but I kind of do?

meh....i mean they used to have cigarette companies before and they still have alcohol companies sponsoring. i dont like any sponsor on jerseys but i get it, its because many teams need the income so it is what it is.

in terms of gambling itself i dont really mind it seeing that NBA MLB and i think NFL has something like draft kings sponsoring them in some way. its the fad, just like when electronics were the thing back in the 90's or early 2000's. maybe in ten years it will be some e currency ( although im surprised it hasny happened yet) that is all over the place.

I don’t like it.

In general having a sports betting sponsor on the shirt is enough to keep me from buying one.

Perhaps most importantly, the majority of the logos are absolutely hideous design disasters. A recent counterexample, though, is the 2018/2019 Wolves shirt with the W88 logo. Nice synergy.

I really want to get the new Leeds kit with our boy Jack on it for the Premier league season. I will probably still get it but the sports betting sponsor does make me hesitate. Any quick lurking on other teams forum gives the impression most English fan bases don't want the betting firms on their shirts either. Real Betis in spain just signed a big deal with a better firm but are waiting to see if La Liga bans it. Italy and turkey have both banned gambling sponsors already.

Quick tidbit on the Italy/Turkey thing, I know any teams that have betting sponsors on their kits aren't allowed to wear them when they play/played in Turkey for the UCL/UEL. Funny to see club kits that look closer to national teams than a club.

It does seem like a lot of teams in England have these types of sponsors, and it can definitely come across as tacky or even immoral.
However, it's important to remember that online gambling is a huge industry and companies in this sector have a lot of money to spend on advertising and sponsorships. And it's good to know that there are responsible online casinos such as https://csiss.org/ that provide players with a safe and fair gambling experience. That being said, it's up to each individual to decide how they feel about these types of sponsorships. Finally, we should remember that the teams are businesses too and they have to make money to survive.

Hey there forum fam, sorry for the late reply, but I just stumbled upon this post and wanted to chime in. I totally get where you're coming from with the tacky and immoral vibes around gambling firms and online casinos sponsoring shirts. Back in the day, it was nice to see real companies like electronics or car manufacturers as sponsors. I personally use Paysafecard Casinos, and they have a good variety of options and odds, but it's all about personal preference and how you feel about it. It's an old post but still a valid subject. Let's keep the conversation going!

I must say, that was a pretty slick response, actually putting in some effort to be topically relevant before adding the link where he wants us to waste money.

I’d prob either change the name of the thread or delete it all together to avoid Algos searching for “Gambling” to find us here. LionNYC LionNYC

Think it's a bit overdone and tacky as well. I mean, there's nothing wrong with a bit of harmless gambling every now and then, but having these types of companies plastered all over team shirts just feels a bit crass to me.
I also miss the days when teams were sponsored by tech or auto companies. It just seemed more legitimate and respectable, you know?
It's definitely an interesting point of discussion. By the way, have you checked out ufabet.school? They have some cool resources on sports betting and gambling in general. Just thought I'd throw that out there!

is someone using like chatgpt to find old threads and make people to do this?

I have to imagine chatgpt is smart enough to answer our security questions at this point lol.

Maybe security shouldn't be questions, but rather image captcha with NYCFC legends or something? like villa/maxi or the nycfc crest or something.

I totally get where you're coming from. I do think it's a bit tacky and questionable when every other football club is being sponsored by online gambling firms and casinos. It seems like it's taking over the sport and almost glorifying gambling in a way. But hey, it's all about the money, right? Maybe some of these clubs are struggling financially and need the extra revenue. Also, I recommend anyone who wants to make some additional money online to try to play aviator here. It's a great game that allows winning good money online with no investments from your side.
