Game Of Thrones (spoilers)

It'd be pretty anticlimactic for the show to spend 7+ seasons focused on the terror the white walkers bring to society for it to be over in a single battle at Winterfell, plus they just laid the groundwork for Winterell to fall with the Iron Islands being needed as a fallback area. Throw in that the very first scene of the show was of the whitewalkers taking out the Ranger team, and that was likely foreshadowing of the importance of the characters - I'd venture episode 5 is when that story line ends as the penultimate episode.

Sam is also going to rise up to kill somebody important, as he just reminded everybody he has the Tarly House (Valyrian steel) sword - he also was the first on the show to kill a white walker, so he could be the one to kill the last with the Night King. And as they pointed out, he's (jokingly) asked for a pardon (about stealing the books), which would make him the rightful heir (not beholden to the Night's Watch) to House Tarly with his brother and father killed.
Yeah I get that. Talked to someone at work and they mentioned that the last time it happened the white walkers made it very far south.
Could they be setting a trap for Winterfell? Maybe send a small contingent there to keep them busy but instead attack kings landing? Which has had no preparation.
Good catch on Sam. I too think something happens with him.

Theory... the war will be over by the 3rd episode. The remaining 3 will focus on who will win the throne.
White walkers are arriving in winterfell next episode. Don’t see them spending 5 episodes on that battle alone.
The director for Episode 3 and 5 is Miguel Sapochnik who also directed "The Gift", "Hardhome", "Battle of the Bastards", and "The Winds of Winter".

So Episode 3 is likely the Battle of Winterfell and Episode 5... maybe Battle of Kings Landing or something

If the battle of winterfell isn’t won how could they possibly survive further battles? The Night King would claim the dead and have an unsullied undead army. Game over.

If you had to guess how each person will die, assuming that in different scenarios they all die, how would it happen?

Cersei - Stabbed by Jamie
Daenerys - Killed by Night King
Mountain (Gregor) - dies in dragon fire
Jon - betrayed by Sansa
Tyrion - skull bashed by Gregor
Night King - Arya’s new special weapon
Sansa - White Walkers

Cersei - Stabbed by Jamie - agreed
Daenerys - Killed by Night King - killed by John
Mountain (Gregor) - dies in dragon fire - killed by The Hound (Cleganebowl!!!)
Jon - betrayed by Sansa - lives
Tyrion - skull bashed by Gregor - lives
Night King - Arya’s new special weapon - killed by John
Sansa - White Walkers - lives
Viserion - killed by Arya's new special weapon

Kill all the white walkers - if the wights are under their control, they can't do shit if they're dead (like the droid army in Star Wars Episode 1)

I can’t put this in spoilers so I’m just assuming anyone that comes to this thread expects spoilers or has seen this episode already.

The prince that was promised.

Eta: also don’t forget Tyrian is (thought to be) a Targaryen via the mad King and his mom. So he’d also have to be offed.

One thing about Tyrian, if the Mad King did rape Tywin's wife while he was Hand, then Tyrion would be half Targ, but also a bastard. John avoided the whole bastard issue with Rheagar's annulment to Elia Martell (whom the Mountain later killed along with his 2 babies, which means the Mountain killed John's infant half-siblings and is due some revenge on that front that Oberyn was not able to dish out).

True, but we did already see the North name Jon, King, and he was thought to be a bastard, so would Tyrian have the same claim if the last Targ?

I was going off of different scenarios if all of those characters ended up dying.

There was also the Blackfyre Rebellion.

With the Martells Tyrells gone, he’s also Warden of the South (which includes Oldtown). If Danny and John both die (no more targarians), Sam the Slayer has a legitimate claim to the Iron throne.
This my favorites theory and I’m all in.

The Night's Watch WAS disbanded. No point without at wall! And even less of a point if they defeat the Night King.
true and thinking about it now Sam did say, when he thought just his father was killed, that at least he would be welcome back home and he mentioned that he would eventually would have inherited his family’s sword so it seems like he doesn’t care about the oath anyway

He's just a crazed rebel now. Slammin' hams with wildlings, stealing family swords and books, killing white walkers, he's done it all. We're just getting started!!

Long before that he basically took a wife. Sam's a nice guy with many virtues, but fealty to the Oath has not been among them.

I know at least one Wiki says the Watch disbanded. But was this ever formally done? And even if it was, I don't think that should absolve the men of their oaths. The Oath says their watch does not end until their death. Not when the Wall falls, not when the Night King is defeated. And not even if the organization falls apart. I don't see how the Oath does not stand, and if the showrunners and GRRM disagree with me, then to hell with them.

I don't see how they are released without an act of the King or Queen, or religious act, or something like that. And though I can certainly imagine some might just decide EFF it, the world has changed and the oath no longer applies, I cannot imagine that being unanimous, and there would be fights over it.

Hell, that the Wall has fallen makes their duties more important, not less. As for defeating the walker invasion, the Watch was founded -- and the wall was built -- after they just beat back a prior invasion. So even if they win this there's no reason to think there won't be another in a thousand years or whatever. Maybe they achieve some sort of total unambiguous victory but that's getting ahead of ourselves, and with magic and such anyway how they could possibly know for certain? Is someone going up North to conduct a thorough census and check if the walkers left behind a remnant? Even if they did not unless the Children of the Forest also are dead then the threat is not gone. If the Children live (and I don't see their extermination as either a goal or a likely outcome), then nothing is completely over.

do you think that Jon's oath has been completed and no longer valid since he has technically already died since making it?
