General MLS Discussion

I think they are overstating things. Atlanta can win without Josef. Sure, it's much harder, but they can do it.

They are in the playoffs almost certainly, and as we saw last year - anyone who is in it can win it. Same goes for CCL, although that is (and always was) a much harder ask.

i agree. ATL still has very good players. it will come down to how well pity and barco play. if both of them step it up, that's 2 DPs changing the game for them. we, on the other hand, still only have one doing that on a somewhat consistent basis.

They probably can still sneak into the playoffs, but they've now lost either via roster moves or injury:

Josef Martinez
Darlington Nagbe
Hector Villalba
Brandon Vazquez
Justin Meram
Leandro Gonzalez Pirez
Julian Gressel
Andrew Carleton

that's a lot of talent walking out the door for 2020. Not saying they're going to miss the playoffs, but I do not think they're anywhere close to the team they were last year. That's four solid starters, and the others on that list all got significant minutes, too. Plus they don't appear to have made a lot of additions.

I think they're going to be in the 6-9 range in the East. They have no striker right now, and Pity can only do so much.

I don't understand what made them drop so many players? They players themselves wanted to leave? Ownership skimping? Or just wanting to cash out?

Anyone getting nervous about YS? It's a legit concern. Serie A is having closed door games until April. Lots of other sports are cancelling games/tournaments throughout Europe/Asia. Will be interesting to see how this plays out here in the states if it continues to spread.

if you work or live in the city then going to the game won't be any different - just wash your hands and stay home if you don't feel well

Twellman was on the MLS ExtraTime podcast suggesting that the CBA needed to be changed to give extra allocation for DP’s that get injured.

That’s right - advocating changing the roster rules because of Josef. No DP has ever gotten a long term injury before? Come on.

The Cooligans joked that Atlanta was going to get JRAM (Josef Replacement Allocation Money). You think if Mitrita or Maxi went down they’d be saying the same thing? Enough.

I'm advocating for DPiaBAM for Medina. DP is a bust.

Villa missed a lot of games when he was injured in 2018. We got no sympathy.

Sure it wasn't season long but that suggestion is atrocious. Just more hot takes to get people talking .. and guess it worked

Do you think the Crew standards are clearly rising after a promising start? Somehow I think Mlssoccer.com thinks so

I found it so weird that the home teams have been playing in the away kits for the first few weeks. Really weird.

They're doing it to sell the new bear claw jerseys.

In the beginning of the broadcast they said teams are contractually obligated to wear their change kits a certain amount of times a season. Might explain why we wore our grays so much at the end of last season
