General MLS Discussion

No. Same ownership. I have no idea why a rebrand, but they've been teasing it for a bit. I don't know why they're rebranding, they really don't need one. I hate this rebrand trend, they're so boring half the time.

it depends. i feel like dynamo was ok to change but what they changed it into was meh. Chicago did not need one and then turned it to what it is now, thought they are going to change it again. montreal didnt need one agreed. NE revolution still has same logo from the start, i dont think a rebrand is needed but a slight update to their logo cant hurt like DC United did.

I admit I haven't tracked this methodically, but I have the sense that the poll/focus group research for MLS fans as a whole, thinking about teams generically, favors the Location FC stuff they keep adopting, but fans of specific teams tend to prefer unique names. I'm most confident this is true about old teams with existing names thinking about a rebrand: the fans usually seem to be against it. But I think it also is true of new teams. When they hold these public poll votes, options other than Location FC seem popular. It seems if you ask people what type of name they want -- with no specific choices -- they say Location FC. But when it is a choice of Chicago Fire or Generic, or Montreal Impact or generic, or when new clubs have a contest, something else usually wins. But MLS keeps pushing the generic.

There has to be no way. It appears it was made in MS Word. The circles don't match, the fleur-de-lises aren't aligned, etc. At best, this is a mock up by someone who saw the real logo, or an extrapolation from the other leak that revealed a grainy 10% of the real logo.
Yeah, the test of the words isn't the same circular as the actual circle...!

I can't form any opinions about the crest until they explain the meaning behind every design aspect of it and how it speaks to Montreal and defines the club and its roots.

I like the logo a lot more than that mockup made it. From far, the logo actually looks awesome as it looks like it has some intricate weaving design to it.
...That being said, it still looks like someone just took it to MS paint and threw it together.

I don't know how to explain it, but the recent MLS logos all follow this weird wire frame-y look. Austin, Houston, Miami, Chicago. (Miami gets a pass bc I think the rest of the logo has a really great design)

...But the name takes the cake. Club de Foot is just as terrible as Club Foot. I hope they keep their nickname as "The Impact" regardless of the name change, and I have a feeling it will stay that way anyway.
